Let’s not make fair retail a fairy tale. I founded Relevé Fashion to provide a
trusted platform for ethical and sustainable designers. “Relevé” is French for
“elevated” or “raised”. From the word itself, our mission is to elevate the shopping
experience into a form of positive social action while also empowering
shoppers with informed choices, to raise awareness so everyone can purchase
with purpose. We value honesty and transparency because it’s not enough for
fashion to simply look beautiful. Ethics and aesthetics are equally important.
Every designer we feature is required to complete our holistic sustainability and
ethical declaration.
While no brand in the world is 100% sustainable, we recognize their commitment
and initiatives towards environmental, personal and social well-being.
These are symbolized by our Relevé Beacons, which were illustrated by my
young nephews as a reminder of who we’re striving to create a better world for.
Our shoppers also support their chosen nonprofit partner with their every purchase
and at no added cost, making for a true fashion statement. Unlike in
Hans Christian Andersen’s tale, children shouldn’t have to call us out on our
silence and inaction.
There’s certainly so much more to our clothes than meets the eye. Like a flower’s
roots hidden from view, every invisible stitch carries the tale of where our
clothes came from and who made them. All Relevé Fashion brands have
unique, admirable stories that not only make their designs even more beautiful
but can clothe you with a sense of pride. Let our spring awakening include a
fresh view of what we deem truly attractive and the will to dig beneath the surface.
Not only to see what’s underneath but to nurture that from which genuine
beauty and strength emanates.
