NEWS & EVENTSGrundfos launches investment-free guaranteedenergy savings programme for Thai businessesGrundfos, a leading pump and water solutions manufacturer,has launched a new service model in Thailand that can help localbusinesses cut energy consumption by more than one-third,achieving greater sustainability at a lower cost while supportingthe country’s goal of reducing greenhouse gas emissions by atleast 20% by 2030 1 .Grundfos Energy Earnings (GEE) is a new shared energysaving programme where Grundfos absorbs the investmentcost of replacing customers’ current equipment with newenvironmentally friendly solutions, as well as installation andongoing maintenance. Under this new self-funding servicemodel, Grundfos and customers will share the realised savingsfrom GEE for five years. Products offered through GEE include LSpumps, controllers and energy-efficient motors.Pumps account for 10% of global energy consumption andtherefore, switching to newer technology can have a significantpositive impact. Advanced pump solutions, which can be usedfor various applications across diverse segments, are especiallysuitable for the hospitality industry where hotels, entertainmentarenas and other facilities play a critical role in supporting theThai economy. GEE can also help municipal electricity authoritiesreduce their energy consumption.Mr Lewis Brown, Grundfos Regional Service BusinessDeveloper, Asia Pacific Region, said, “Sustainability is a veryimportant part of Grundfos’ DNA. The pandemic this year hasreaffirmed the importance of achieving our climate ambitions,as we are reminded of the impact human activities have on theenvironment. We are committed to helping our customers toreduce their water and energy consumption to limit their carbonfootprint.1In the lead-up to the 2015 Paris Agreement, Thailand proposed its nationallydetermined contribution to reduce greenhouse gases by around 20 to 25% by 2030.Mr Lewis Brown, Grundfos Regional Service BusinessDeveloper, Asia Pacific Region.“At the same time, we aim to demonstrate that financialand environmental goals are not mutually exclusive. Our GEEmodel showcases the benefits of replacing energy-intensiveequipment with our pioneering technology that can reduce bothenvironmental and financial costs.”Grundfos this year launched GEE with Ramayana Water Parkin Pattaya, replacing the existing pumps at Thailand’s largestwater park and enabling it to reduce its energy consumptionby 31%. The project will exceed 1,000,000 kWh in savings and450 tonnes of CO 2emissions – about the same as permanentlyremoving 170 cars off the road.Financial savings for a customer can reach up to 1.5 millionbaht per year of cost saving.“These savings will have a significant impact on ourcustomers’ bottom line, as well as our commitment towardssustainability and the environment.
