up to <strong>the</strong> Forest Service & <strong>the</strong>y made copies for <strong>the</strong>m and myself so I will<br />

send yours back. I always remember you taking me around to <strong>the</strong> lookouts<br />

to change <strong>the</strong> little charging motors and d<strong>is</strong>on type b<strong>at</strong>teries on <strong>the</strong> nei<br />

two way radios. You drove th<strong>at</strong> 46 yellow 'ord 4-door sedan. I helped Chet<br />

Lyons from Bend install <strong>the</strong>m on <strong>the</strong> Frecnont. There are not many people around<br />

here th<strong>at</strong> were here when you were. Herb Hadley lives in 131y, Jake Harr<strong>is</strong> in<br />

K. Falls and Al W<strong>at</strong>erhouse lives here in Lakeview. I started with <strong>the</strong> F. S.<br />

j 45It and enjoyed everybody worked toge<strong>the</strong>r but <strong>the</strong>y don't do th<strong>at</strong>. so much<br />

any niore. I had a nice ch<strong>at</strong> with Ed Cliff when he v<strong>is</strong>ited <strong>the</strong> Fremont last.<br />

fall. My neighbor across <strong>the</strong> street 'Lacy Garretts' and Ed Cliff were good<br />

friends and I got <strong>the</strong>m toge<strong>the</strong>r while he bias here. So long for now.<br />

<strong>of</strong> Bill Bryan's closer friends) ho said he would try to write up some <strong>of</strong><br />

Pill's experiences. Leonard ha had a sick spell since <strong>the</strong>n and doesn't<br />

feel up to writing anything. T received <strong>the</strong> enclosed write-up from Rita<br />

Willits <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> Shelton Rgr. Sta. and it does add some to <strong>the</strong> write-up in <strong>the</strong><br />

30 Year Club Newsletter <strong>of</strong>' April 1980. 1 did not have too much contact with<br />

Bill in my earlier days in <strong>the</strong> F. S. arid as Hill bias a quiet type <strong>of</strong> person<br />

you didn't hear much from him unless you asked questions. t suggest you contact<br />

been feeling too well l<strong>at</strong>ely. Having problems with a swollen neck gland<br />

1 was away on a trip o Fiawail. T finally go completely retired - <strong>the</strong> house<br />

and yard look worse than when I was working. A little less golf could change<br />

th<strong>at</strong> tho. I bought a Kenwood R-l000 jusL to see wh<strong>at</strong> <strong>is</strong> on <strong>the</strong> ham bands -<br />

just can believe wh<strong>at</strong> tth<strong>at</strong> little thing will do! (about <strong>the</strong> size <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong><br />

big boxes <strong>of</strong> yester <strong>year</strong>.) Am active iith <strong>the</strong> barbershop singers and have<br />

taken on <strong>the</strong> treasurer job. With all <strong>the</strong> shows and activities, itts almost<br />

as bad as being an A. 0.<br />

Be friendly and ieipfui. If you would have friends be friendly.<br />

Be cordial. Speak and act as if everything you do were a genuine<br />

pleasure.<br />

Be genuinely intereted in people. ou can like everybody if you<br />

try.<br />

Be generous ih pra<strong>is</strong>e; cautious with critic<strong>is</strong>m.<br />
