economic development armof<br />
the Waimakariri and Hurunui<br />
districtcouncils.<br />

GuyGraham,who organises the<br />
awards,saidthey werea<br />
celebration of businesses in<br />
<strong>North</strong> <strong>Canterbury</strong>.<br />
It gavethose whoentered the<br />
opportunity for ‘‘shameless’’<br />
selfpromotion.<br />
Mr Grahamsaysthere has<br />
been keen interestsincethe<br />
launch.<br />
‘‘Businesss are enteringdaily<br />
andexcitement is growing.’’<br />
The awards are open to all<br />
<strong>North</strong> <strong>Canterbury</strong> businesses,<br />
andofferthem achance to<br />
become betterknown andgrow<br />
their presencein<strong>North</strong><br />
<strong>Canterbury</strong>, he says.<br />
Thisevent is held every two<br />
years, butwas interruptedlast<br />
yearbecauseofCovid19.<br />
Mr Grahamsaidwhenpeople<br />
began fillingout applications to<br />
entertheir businessinone of<br />
the nine categories, it made<br />
themreflect on their<br />
achievements and goals.<br />
Plus, there was alsothe<br />
People’s ChoiceAward, which<br />
onceagain gave <strong>North</strong><br />
<strong>Canterbury</strong> businesses a<br />
chancetopromotethemselves<br />

It helped themto reflect on<br />
theirbusiness,andconsider if<br />
things could be donedifferently<br />
