The Rangiora Hurunui Hares
have continued their strong
earlyseason form, taking out
the Knock Out Cup in the Mid
Week Women’s Division 1
competition.
The team faced Malvern in
the final at Nga Puna Wai,
coming away witha3­0win
and givingthe side
confidence as it heads into the
winter season proper. The
otherMid Week Women’s
team,the Rangiora Hurunui
Hawks, finished its Knock Out
Cup Division 3competition
with abig 5­0 win over
SouthernUnited in the 7/8
playoff.
Meanwhile, the Rangiora
CBK Men’s Hockey team find
themselves in aform slump
following another highscoring
losstothe UC
Spartans. Things won’t get
easier for the sidethis
weekend when it takes on topof­the­table
Carlton Redcliffs.
In the Division 1women’s
championship,Rangiora CBK
founditself 3­0 downathalf
time against the Universityof
Canterbury Huns. However,
the squad regrouped to
dominatethe second half,
scoring two great goalsearly
in the fourth quarter,then
pushed hard for an equaliser
righttothe finalwhistle.

the first quarter, but rallied to
score five goals to put the
gamebeyond doubt.
It was the first weekend of
Platinum (under18) and Kwik
Sticks (Year 7/8)games last
week, with the Kwik Sticks
competitionsdivided into
both7and11­a­side formats.
The Rangiora Hockey Club
is again fielding four
Platinum teams and has one
11­a­side Kwik Sticks team in
boththe girls’ and boys’
competitions, backedupby
three girls’ 7­a­side and two
boys’ 7­a­side teams.
Mostoftheseteams
struggled in their first
outings, but showedpositive
signs theywill improve as the
season progresses.
