Welcome to Out and About magazine Costa Blanca June 2021 as things start hotting up in the Costa Blanca and Spain and now that Spain is allowing visitors from the UK without any Covid testing, June is likely to see holidaymakers return for the start of the summer as well as those who plan to reunite with family. June is also the month for the postponed event of Euro 2020 to 2021 which in turn should see many bars being busy and full of people of different nationalities having fun from 12th June.

Up at Zekia<br />
In the upl<strong>and</strong>s of Southern<br />
Greece there lies an empty<br />
field surrounded on three<br />
sides by thick woodl<strong>and</strong>s <strong>and</strong><br />
edged by a narrow country<br />
road.<br />
The feeling of empty<br />
l<strong>and</strong>scape is underlined by the<br />
skeletal ruins of a roofless, twostorey<br />
house set well back from<br />
the road with gaps in its walls<br />
where doors <strong>and</strong> windows<br />
once looked onto the field.<br />
A single, large tree st<strong>and</strong>s<br />
guard close by while southfacing<br />
mountains gaze upon<br />
the silent scene.<br />
An old friend, a senior<br />
member of the family who once<br />
lived in the house, <strong>and</strong> who still<br />
own it <strong>and</strong> the surrounding<br />
l<strong>and</strong>, leads me into what was<br />
once the downstairs of the<br />
house.<br />
I sense that my friend’s<br />
family, going back generations,<br />
are still here, downstairs,<br />
upstairs, living, eating,<br />
sleeping, working the l<strong>and</strong>.<br />
They have not gone away....<br />
<strong>and</strong> neither can I.... never!
