As a recovery operator, can you truly say you are familiar<br />

with all of those regulations, I know for sure there is only a few<br />

operators that have read them, let alone understand them and<br />

fully understand them and how that fits your business is critical to<br />

a successful recovery business and to get the best results from<br />

the consultation.<br />

If you’re a member of a trade body or trade association then<br />

speak to your representative and ensure you have your say, you<br />

do not have to be a member of a trade association you can have<br />

your own say, and I would encourage every one of you <strong>Professional</strong><br />

<strong>Recovery</strong> magazine readers to make your own submission, the<br />

more detailed responses the better, the stronger the case made<br />

for the recovery industry the better, don’t forget this is open to<br />

the logistics and haulage and insurance sectors and there likely to<br />

have a totally different view to you the operator.<br />

It’s this statutory fee legislation and the pricing matrix that<br />

creates the very foundations that supports the recovery industry,<br />

the mechanism you can rely on to influence the industry’s<br />

generalised cost module, from a callout fee, free mileage<br />

(whatever that is), specialist charges and the guarantees those<br />

finance payments are made ‘Ontime’, no pun intended.<br />

With the consultation ending Friday 6th August 2021, the<br />

message has to be understood there’s no guarantee this will go<br />

the way the operator wants, now more than ever ‘Your Industry<br />

Needs You’! It is time all step up to the plate for change, say<br />

nothing and the industry will receive more of the same.<br />

Finally, and to expand on the comments from that secret<br />

operator in the last issue 342, you quote ‘£70k a pop for a new<br />

truck’, that’s just a 7.5 tonne transporter, a 12 tonne transporter<br />

starts at £100k and as for the price of a heavy, a very good friend<br />

of mine Mick Jennings, Managing Director of LJ Transportation and<br />

Nationwide Vehicle Assistance (NVA), he continues to make the<br />

investment into keeping his fleet up to date and well maintained,<br />

having just added a brand new<br />
