Our Pictorial Past by Rick Palsgrove
Farm in 1940
Photo courtesy of the Groveport Heritage Museum
This is a view of the barnyard of the Palsgrove family farm on Shannon
Road in Madison Township as it looked around 1940. The farmhouse in the
background was built in 1849 by William Whims. The house made from
bricks taken from clay in a field across the road in front of the house. The
farm is now gone, but the farmhouse still stands today along Shannon
Road. For much of the 19th and 20th centuries, Madison Township and
Hamilton Township were filled with many small family farms such as this.
