CW maintains membership
only policy for pool season
The city of Canal Winchester decided
July 9, to continue the membership-only
policy at the municipal pool through the remainder
of the 2021 pool season.
Following recent events of unruly behavior
at the Canal Winchester Municipal Pool,
city administrators made the decision to
limit pool admission to only season-pass
holders effective July 3. After reviewing
comments from Canal Winchester City
Council and the public, and considering
other municipal pools in the area were enacting
similar policies, the decision was
made to continue this policy for the rest of
the season.
The new policy allows members to bring
one paid guest per member. For example, if
a membership has four individuals listed,
and each of those individuals visits the pool,
they may each bring a guest with them for
a total of four guests. Individuals looking for
a more affordable option should consider the
Vacationers Pass, which is good for 10 pool
visits. This pass may be shared with multiple
individuals for a total of 10 visits. For
example, a couple may visit the pool five
times together with this pass, or a family of
five may visit twice. The Vacationers Pass
requires one business day for processing
prior to use.
Matt Peoples, public service director for
the city of Canal Winchester, said, “Safety
of the pool patrons is the priority here, and
being able to control the admissions through
memberships gives us the best chance to
root out unruly behavior by suspending
their passes.”
The Fairfield County Sheriff’s Office will
continue to patrol the pool and surrounding
area for added security.
City administrators plan to revisit the
current admission ordinance before the
2022 season.

CW’s Movies in the Park
The city of Canal Winchester, in partnership
with Destination: Canal Winchester,
will host two free Movies in the Park this
summer.
A family-friendly movie will be shown
outdoors at Hanners Park, 458 Groveport
Road, on Aug. 13. The movie will begin
after sunset, at about 9 p.m. “The Little
Rascals,” rated PG, will be shown on Aug.
13. Families may enjoy the movie from the
comfort of their vehicle or bring a chair or
blanket to watch from the lawn.
