THE POSITION The CEO is responsible for providing strategic leadership for all St. Matthew’s House programs and social enterprises by working with the Board, leadership team, staff and community to establish long-range goals, strategies, plans and policies. The CEO is the direct executive representative in the management of the organization and is responsible for the organization’s consistent achievement of its mission and financial objectives. The CEO is accountable for developing and achieving annual operating plans which generate and sustain revenue levels required to ensure the successful, measurable operation of the programs and social enterprises offered, achieve timely reduction of capital debt, and maintain disciplined financial and operational programs with Christ-centered integrity. This position leads the organization in maintaining a positive “tone” within and is the key representative of St. Matthew’s House to the community at large. When the new CEO is in place and the COO returns to his role, the direct reports to the CEO will include the COO, the VP of Human Capital, the CFO, the VP of Development, a VP for Recovery Programs (open position), and an Executive Assistant. The COO will continue managing the leaders of the shelter, food distribution, hospitality, facilities, project management, and social enterprise areas. BOARD OF DIRECTORS CEO EXEC. Demonstrates strong ability to organize, delegate, and supervise a wide-ranging organization. • Possesses strong teaching and speaking skills with internal staff and for those in their care, but also for speaking in public, at church events and other public gatherings. • Skilled in developing relationships with donors, churches, community leaders, and collaborating organizations. – QUALIFICATIONS • Bachelor’s degree required. • Minimum 10 years of experience in a senior management role. • Preferred experience as a director, employee, or board member of a nonprofit organization; is familiar with nonprofit finance, accounting regulations, fundraising, and management. • The ability to attract, train, manage, motivate, and retain staff. • Proven track record of success facilitating progressive organizational change and development within a growing organization. • Excellent strategic thinking, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills required. • Ability to develop business/strategic plans and evaluate external trends to modify existing strategies. • Ability to give expertise among all departments, but specifically to give direction regarding the shelters and drug recovery program. • The ability to exercise initiative, judgment, and decision-making in meeting objectives. • The ability to function effectively, exert influence and gain consensus at all organizational levels. • The ability and flexibility to be effective in a relatively unstructured working environment. • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to express, advocate and defend views effectively and with clarity of thought to both internal and external stakeholders. • Strong mentoring, coaching experience to a team with diverse levels of expertise. • Entrepreneurial team player who can multitask and effectively make decisions in a timely manner. • Passion for nonprofit organizations.
