Chapter Updates<br />
KNA Bluegrass Chapter<br />
The Bluegrass Chapter continues to meet via<br />
Zoom. Members spent the summer working on time<br />
of its election and adding new officers to its slate<br />
including membership and event planning chairs and<br />
eliminating the second vice president position. The<br />
chapter also will soon establish a Finance Committee.<br />
Starting in 2022. Bluegrass elections will take place<br />
in the Spring.<br />
Members are considering creating a Nightingale<br />
Award to spotlight outstanding staff nurses.<br />
The chapter will offer a series of CEUs centered<br />
on diversity this Fall and hosts its meetings, 6 -7<br />
p.m. and CE programs, 7-8 p.m., (EST) on the third<br />
Tuesday of each month.<br />

KNA Northeastern Chapter<br />
The Northeastern Chapter members will begin a<br />
T-shirt fundraiser starting this fall, collect donations<br />
for Lakeside Christian Academy for an AED and<br />
will contribute to the Greenup County “Meals<br />
on Wheels” canned food drive. The chapter will<br />
begin facilitating Nightingale tributes and collecting<br />
donations for COVID safety such as masks for local<br />
schools and members will volunteer at COVID<br />
vaccination clinics.<br />
To recruit and retain members, the chapter<br />
regularly sends $10 gift cards to members at random<br />
with notes of appreciation and also distributes gift<br />
cards and hosts raffles for those attending meetings.<br />
KNA Green River Chapter<br />
The chapter did not meet in June or July and<br />
resumed meetings on August 12.<br />

KNA Heartland Chapter<br />

Monica Wesley, Pharm D, clinical pharmacist,<br />

presented the chapter’s August 12 CE program,<br />
“Outpatient Antimicrobial Stewardship in a<br />
“Quick Fix” Society.” Recently, Denise Alvey,<br />
MSN, RN, chapter secretary, facilitated a class<br />
on professionalism in nursing at the Bluegrass<br />
Community & Technical College’s Lawrenceburg<br />
campus.<br />

COVID-19 on <strong>Nurse</strong>s,” 6:30 – 8:30 p.m.,<br />
Thursday, October 14 (includes chapter meeting).<br />

Attendees must stay for duration of the program<br />
to be awarded contact hours for continuing<br />
nursing education provide license number upon<br />
registration and complete an evaluation for the<br />
program. Partial credit will not be awarded for any<br />
session. We reserve the right to cancel or alter the<br />
program if unanticipated circumstances necessitate<br />
changes. The <strong>Kentucky</strong> <strong>Nurse</strong>s Association is an<br />
approved provider of continuing nursing education<br />
by the <strong>Kentucky</strong> Board of Nursing (KBN). The<br />
KBN approval of an individual nursing continuing<br />
education provider does not constitute endorsement.<br />
Elections for chapter chair and treasurer are<br />
planned for November.<br />
Chapter goals include increasing its outreach to<br />
nursing faculty and students within the Nightingale<br />
geographic area, enhancing the mental health of<br />
nurses through a CE program, increasing chapter<br />
attendance at the KNA Summit <strong>2021</strong>. The chapter<br />
Tonya Kennedy, MSN, RN, recently presented<br />
Connor Noble, a nursing student at Morehead<br />
University and KNA Student Subscriber, with the<br />
chapter’s $500 Nursing Excellence Scholarship.<br />

5 p.m., (EST), Wednesday, November 3; details TBD.<br />
