Nevada Nurses Foundation EST 2014
The NNF has been hosting nursing dinner and awards galas since 2016. Because
the Foundation serves all of Nevada, the gala rotates locations from the south to the
north. The Shining Stars of Nursing in Nevada Awards Gala was held at the Nugget
Hotel and Casino in Sparks, Nevada in 2018 and 2020. In 2022, we anticipate
returning to the Nugget Hotel and Casino inside the Celebrity Showroom.
Recognition of Nevada Nurses Foundation Scholarship Recipients &
Donors – We honor individual and corporate donors who have set aside funds from
their charitable giving to create personal/professional legacy scholarships in their
individual/corporate name or after someone they wish to honor. With this naming
opportunity comes the privilege of deciding the scholarship criteria. Legacy donors
will be recognized.
The following Legacy Scholarships are open for individuals to donate specifically
to that fund.
• From 1 Nurse to Another “Eminence” Scholarship – sponsored by the

parent nurse pursuing an advanced degree.
• Margaret Hatton Legacy Scholarship – sponsored in memory of Margaret
L. Hatton.
• Yvette Wintermute Endowed Legacy Scholarship – sponsored in
memory of Yvette Wintermute.
• Frontline Heroes Endowment Fund – a endowment specifically for
funding scholarships to frontline acute care nurses.
• Greg Peistrup Endowed Legacy Scholarship – sponsored by family and
friends in memory of Greg Peistrup, APRN.
• Erick Christopherson Endowed Legacy Scholarship – sponsored by the
Christopherson Family and Friends in memory of Erick Christopherson, Orvis
School of Nursing Student Nurse.
• Linda Beck Platz Memorial Fund – in memory of Linda Platz, RN.
• Lauren Nicole Delameter Nursing Scholarship – in memory of Lauren
Delameter, RN.
• Patricia Herlihy Alfonso Nursing Scholarship – in memory of Patricia
Herlihy Alfonso, RN and past instructor at a number of northern Nevada
schools and colleges.
• Margaret and Ian Curley Endowed Nursing Scholarship – in memory of
Margaret Curley, who among many other achievements was past Executive
Director of the Nevada Nurses Association and the 2018 recipient of the
Distinguished Nurse Leader with Lifetime Achievement Award.
• Jami-Sue Coleman Scholarship – this scholarship will be awarded to a
Nevada nurse pursuing a PhD from an accredited college.
• Dr. Deloris Middlebrooks Legacy of Nursing Scholars Fund
• Nevada Rural & Frontier Scholarship Fund
• Betty Razor Scholarship
Get your outfits and Big Hats ready for the 2022 8th Annual Big Hat “Kentucky
Derby” High Tea in the spring. We plan to return to the Nevada Governor’s
Mansion! The Big Hat High Tea has sold out within a week of advertising. Follow us
on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn. We will be sharing the flier on social
media.
The Nevada Nurses Foundation is a federally recognized 501(c)(3) non-profit
organization. We have an all-nurse executive board and the advisory board is
made up of nurses and non-nurses. If you would like to help raise funds for
scholarships and grants by donating your time, services, or resources, please let us

in memoriam in the souvenir program and slide show. A paragraph about the fallen
nursing star and a picture would be appreciated, but they will be recognized with
