TRADE FAIR REVIEW
AAA CHEMNITZ AND AAA ESSEN
Finally real trade fairs again! In September and October,
Bürklin Elektronik was represented for the first time
after more than a year of „trade fair abstinence“ with an
PROJECT
SMART BÜRKLIN
ONLINE SHOP
TO INCREASE ITS DIGITAL PRESENCE AND IMPROVE THE BUYING
EXPERIENCE FOR ITS CUSTOMERS, BÜRKLIN ELEKTRONIK TRUSTS
INTERSHOP AS THE IDEAL SOLUTION FOR HEADLESS COMMERCE.
After our comprehensive reports on
the Smart Bürklin Online Shop project
in Bürklin Elektronik Quarterly
#01/2021 as well as #02/2021, you
- dear customers and suppliers -
are surely asking yourself:
WHEN WILL THE TIME COME?
About a year ago, Bürklin Elektronik
decided to rely on the Intershop
Commerce Cloud platform. Together
with our implementation partner
Smart Commerce, we are pursuing
the headless commerce approach.
In this approach, the frontend and
backend of the eCommerce solution
are decoupled from each other. At
Bürklin Elektronik, both the backend
and the frontend are based on the
Intershop standard solution, which
has been adapted to a large extent to
our individual requirements. These
adjustments take time - more time
than planned. According to current
plans, we expect a Soft Go-Live in
Q1 2022. Why? You can find out in
the following.
AT BÜRKLIN ELEKTRONIK,
THE FOCUS IS ON THE CUSTOMER
We want to convince our customers
from day one. That is our goal. We
want to convince you that our online
shop is future-proof, customeroriented
and perfectly tailored to you
- dear customers and suppliers. The
satisfaction of our business partners
and the fulfilment of our performance
promises are our top priority.
This is our claim, and we work on it
with high pressure, even if this
causes delays in the project.
7

GO-LIVE PLANNING &
REALIZATION
To meet our claim and to realize a
successful Go-Live, the online shop
needs the necessary development
time. The implementation of relevant
B2B functionalities and the
development of our Smart Search
(see the Bürklin Elektronik Quarterly
#01/2021) requires precision and endurance
from all project participants.
Only when we are sure that we can
convince you as a customer will we
present the new online shop to you.
During the course of the project,
we have already achieved major
milestones, with a few still ahead of
us. One of these milestones is our
Soft GoLive. As already reported in
the Bürklin Elektronik Quarterly
#02/2021, we will have a comprehensive
pilot and test phase with selected
customers before the system
changeover. During this phase, we
would like to take the time to incorporate
all valuable customer feedback
into the project as needed.
Only after completion of this relevant
milestone, we will tackle the final
one - the GoLive. But you can already
look forward to it - dear customers
and suppliers! We will inform you in
good time when our Smart Bürklin
Online Shop will be launched in the
new design and with the promised
added value for all our customers
and suppliers.
OUR
PROMISE
TO YOU:
- OPTIMIZED SEARCH
Our customers will find the
products they are looking for easily
and quickly with the help of the
comprehensive search and filter
functions.
- REAL-TIME PRICES &
AVAILABILITY
Prices & availability are displayed
in real time - analogous to our
data in our merchandise management
system.
- INTUITIVE USABILITY &
ORIENTATION
The user-friendly design with a
very good usability, an intuitive
orientation and a fast-loading time
will inspire our customers.
- EXTENDED CUSTOMER
SELF-SERVICE FUNCTIONS
Together with extended customer
self-services, we create a clear
added value and optimize the
purchasing processes of our
professional customers in the
long term.
- PORTFOLIO DESIGN &
DATA QUALITY
In the new online shop, we communicate
the entire range of
our electronics products to our
customers in a user-friendly and
comprehensible way.
PUNKT & KOMMA
BÜRKLIN ELEKTRONIK
SETS THE COURSE
FOR PROFESSIONAL
CONTENT MARKETING
As a leading distributor
of high-quality electronic
components and service
provider for Automation,
Robotics and Process
Technology, Bürklin
Elektronik knows full
well that every little
detail counts. Whether
it‘s technical or content
perfection - Bürklin
Elektronik‘s standards
are impressively high. As
an electronics expert, the
company with its attractive
online shop is a qualified
point of contact for its
customers for information
worth knowing and
genuine know-how.
So, it‘s not surprising that
Bürklin Elektronik brought
the Salzburg-based content
and content marketing
agency punkt & komma
on board to perform with
good electronics content at
www.buerklin.com.
BUERKLIN.COM:
ELECTRONICS CONTENT
WITH ADDED VALUE
Since 1954, the electronics
company based in Bavaria
has made it its business to
meet every customer need,
no matter how individual,
and to guarantee the availability
of its products at all
times. At the company‘s
headquarters in Oberhaching
alone, there are
more than 70,000 products
in the warehouses, and
the company never tires
of expanding its range.
To meet this service claim
in digital as well, Bürklin
Elektronik took a clear
step in 2020 and rolled
out an individual content
marketing roadmap
together with punkt &
komma.
The Salzburg agency is a
specialist in content and
knows the importance of
customized strategy concepts
in the digital world.
In view of the flood of
information that hits users
every day, it is essential to
take them on a customer
journey that is characterized
by emotion, simplicity,
and effectiveness. Because
what counts at the end of
the day? A satisfied customer!
And it was precisely
this circumstance that
punkt & komma considered
with a well-thoughtout
content strategy.
CONTENT CREATION
IN DETAIL
In order to optimally reach
potential customers,
Bürklin Elektronik made
clear decisions regarding
brand positioning
and target groups. Based
on this, relevant topics
were developed together
with the experts, which
subsequently served as a
valuable basis for content
creation.
Bürklin Elektronik relied
on professional solutions
from the areas of
content editing, web text
and consulting.
CONTENT EDITING: The
integration of an online
magazine immerses the
user deeper into the world
of electronics. Innovative
topics are addressed and
presented in a comprehensible
way to provide added
value for the reader.
WEB TEXT: Whether
category pages, guide texts
or manufacturer pages,
punkt & komma delivered
the ideal content - always
tailored to the target
group. The task was to
package products from
more than 500 manufacturers
in valuable content
units and present them
in a way that users could
understand.
CONSULTING: The customer
journey plays an
enormously important role
in content marketing. The
credo is to pick up the user
where he stands. They
need information, support,
and quick answers to their
questions. punkt & komma
acted as a consultant and
helped to offer all this
to the (future) customer.
After all, only a satisfied
customer ultimately leads
to a positive purchase
conclusion.
Why specifically electronics
content? Because at
Bürklin Elektronik, the
customer is the focus.
The company is committed
to providing meaningful
knowledge and education
in the field of electronics.
Complex topics are
presented in an understandable
way via valuable
content solutions in
order to make knowledge
accessible. Know-how is
to be passed on without
compromise. Because
that‘s what users expect
from an electronics expert:
support, education, and
knowledge transfer.
punkt & komma Managing Director
Ines Eschbacher
www.buerklin.com
11

punkt & komma Team
COOPERATION
WITH SUCCESS
punkt & komma acted
as content creator and
consultant in this interaction.
Short communication
channels were the motto:
In close consultation
with Bürklin Elektronik‘s
product managers and SEO
experts, important content
topics were defined in advance
and prepared accordingly.
Bürklin Elektronik is
thus the communications
expert, punkt & komma the
consultant - a symbiosis
that cannot be surpassed
in terms of expertise and
added value.
A successful all-round
package of relevant content
that takes the user into the
world of electronics and
makes expert know-how
tangible.
PUNKT & KOMMA:
CONTENT MARKETING
AT ITS BEST
punkt & komma knows that
content is not a nice-tohave,
but the basis of every
successful digital strategy.
It is important to emphasize
the individuality of a
product. A claim that the
Salzburg agency successfully
fulfils by delivering
impressive content with
outstanding ideas and
individual concepts.
The agency‘s range of
services is broad: from
strategy and conception to
operational support in the
areas of content marketing,
content management,
social media marketing and
visual storytelling. Above
all, content that inspires
counts. „It‘s not about more
content, it‘s about better
content,“ has always been
the credo of Managing
Director Ines Eschbacher,
whose intention from the
very beginning was to get
to the heart of a product‘s
core message.
An approach that is not only
more relevant today than
ever before but has become
vital across the industry.
Every type of content
must offer the user actual
added value in order to be
convincing in the endless
expanses of the Internet.
In the meantime, content
marketing has grown into a
discipline in its own right.
So, like Bürklin Elektronik,
it is important to take the
step forward and focus on
good content. Because the
competition never sleeps,
and only those who deliver
relevant content will be
ranked well.
The content and content
marketing agency punkt &
komma is a professional
partner when it comes to
strategy, web copywriting,
inbound marketing,
content creation, social
media, and visual storytelling.
Whether tourism,
experience, trade or industry,
Managing Director
Ines Eschbacher and her
25-strong team sharpen
every USP and create
content that inspires.
DR. HÖNLE AG
MOBILE UVC AIR
DISINFECTION UNITS
FOR USE IN OCCUPIED
ROOMS
A NEW LOOK FOR A
LONG-STANDING PARTNERSHIP
UV expert Hönle has been sourcing high-quality
components from Bürklin Elektronik since 1991.
Since September of this year, Hönle products have
also been part of the range of products offered by
the electronics professional. The UVC disinfection
units of the SteriWhite Air Q series are successful
in preventing infections when used for indoor air.
Dr. Hönle AG, based in Gilching near Munich, is an
expert in industrial UV technology. Since 1976, the
parent company of the Hönle Group, for which around
600 employees work in 20 subsidiaries worldwide, has
been developing, manufacturing, and selling high-end
curing equipment and systems for various markets.
These range from UV dryers used in printing and coating
machines to UV units for curing adhesives and sealing
compounds. Other fields of business include solar
simulation, exposure technology and UVC disinfection
for surfaces, water, and air.
It is no wonder that the company also relies on a
partner for the supply of electronic components who
not only sells products, but also provides assistance
with expert advice. “We greatly appreciate the
individualised, personalised and professional support
provided by Bürklin”, reports Dieter Stirner, Head of
Sales at Dr. Hönle AG.
Shared values such as dedication and commitment
to quality were also decisive in Bürklin Elektronik’s
decision to support Dr. Hönle AG with immediate effect
not only as a supplier, but also as a distribution partner:
Starting now, Bürklin customers can find the UVC air
purifiers of the SteriWhite Air Q series in the product
range of the electronics dealer.
In all these areas, Hönle stands for trend-setting
developments that can also be individually tailored to
the application as required. And Hönle stands for the
highest quality standards. This is one of the reasons
why the company is characterised by an exceptionally
high level of vertical integration. From quartz glass to
lamps, from LED assembly to its own electronic power
supplies and control cabinet construction, everything
is manufactured within the Hönle Group.
UVC AIR PURIFIERS OF THE STERIWHITE
AIR Q-SERIES DISINFECT THE AIR QUIETLY,
RELIABLY AND WITH HIGH EFFECTIVENESS
The Corona pandemic has brought the transmission of
infection by aerosols and thus the importance of disinfected
indoor air for preventing infection to the attention
of society for the first time. With more than 30 years of
experience in the field of UVC disinfection, Dr. Hönle AG
has developed the SteriWhite Air Q series of mobile air
purifiers, which are a fast, safe, and effective solution
for indoor air disinfection.
SteriWhite Air Q units are available in four versions,
which differ in air flow rate per hour (115 – 900 m³/h)
and thus in size. All models reliably inactivate viruses,
bacteria and other germs in the air and reduce the
germ load of indoor air sustainably and inconspicuously.
Because with a sound pressure level of only 35 to 39
db(A), they are demonstrably below the concentration
threshold.
The SteriWhite Air Q is available as a stand-alone unit
or for wall or ceiling mounting. It meets the highest
photobiological safety standards and produces neither
ozone nor other harmful substances. Lamp replacement
is simple and is only required after 16,000 hours of
operation. No other maintenance is needed.
Based on “COVID 19 Aerosol Transmission Risk Calculator“ of the Max-Planck-Institute for Chemistry:
https://www.mpic.de/4747361/risk-calculator
Assumptions: Room height= 2.5 m; persons performing sedentary work; persons not wearing face masks; percentage of time
talking 20 %; example calculation office for 4 persons: Risk of at least one further person being infected if one person present is
highly infectious; without air cleaner 50 %, with Q600 air cleaner 6.6 %, which means a reduction in the risk of infection of >80 %
WELLER
WELLER HELPS
THE INDUSTRY
WORK SAFER
WITH CLEAN AIR
During the global
COVID-19 pandemic, the
world has become more
sensitive to the subject
of “clean air.” After this
past year and a half and
the various phases of the
pandemic, ensuring a
healthy working environment
is not only desirable
but, in many cases,
non-negotiable. Workplace
air mainly is contaminated
by dust, micro-dust
and gases generated by
many processes, including
soldering and rework,
gluing, solvents, conformal
coating, MEK, VOC, and
more. However, Weller’s
fume extraction and filtering
systems are designed
to make breathable air in
the workplace healthier by
eliminating those harmful
substances from the areas
covered by suction arms
such as hoses, tubes/arms
and hoods. While 100%
efficiency against nanomolecular
viruses such
as the Coronavirus (0.12
µm) is not possible, the
HEPA H13 filters that many
Weller fume extraction
systems are equipped with
significantly reduce the
presence of these
molecules in the
air (efficiency
>99.955% in MPPS for 0.16
µm particles and >99.994%
for 0.3 µm particles).
Ensuring greater air purity
in operators’ work areas
undoubtedly improves their
comfort and eliminates the
risk of possible lung irritation
or allergic reactions
caused by fumes, which
can weaken the body and
immune system, making
them more susceptible to
possible contagion, as well
as known serious diseases.
Weller filters are available
in a range of types
and classes because they
are not only developed
for soldering applications
(although this remains the
core business), but
also for bonding, painting,
resin coating, marking/
engraving/welding/laser
cutting, medical, cosmetic,
dermo-aesthetic use and
more.
The Weller filtration process
starts with a prefilter,
which is a classic cloth
filter of M5 or F7 class,
whose main purpose is to
block micro-dust, fibres,
pollen, bacteria and
pigments between 5-10
µm, and prevent clogging
of the more efficient,
expensive main filter. For
applications with high dust
content, sticky residues
or stray sparks, there are
several specific prefilters
available to optimise the
efficiency and durability of
the filtration
system.
The main filter is the most
important part of the filter
system because it blocks
particulate matter that has
not been intercepted by the
prefilter as well as harmful
gases that are difficult to
filter. This filter is available
in High Efficiency Particulate
Air (HEPA) class
H13, a very high efficiency
class also called “absolute
filters.” It also is available
in other classes for a spectrum
of applications such
as bonding, resin coating
and cleanroom as well as
for chemicals like methyl
ethyl ketone (MEK), solvents
and volatile organic
compounds (VOC). Within
the range of Weller filtration
units, the size and
capacity of the filters vary
and, consequently, the
useable life of the filters
differs.
In addition to the HEPA
filter, the main filter also
consists of a granular
filter of activated carbon,
potassium permanganate
or a combination of both.
In some applications, the
HEPA filter is not needed
while in others a second
one is used (e.g. for clean
rooms). The oxidising
chemical reaction of the
granules achieves high
levels of gas filtration.
However, the maximum
life of a filter is always
12 months from first use
because the filter media
degrades when it is unpacked
and used in the
filtration unit. Generally,
the less frequently prefilters
are changed, the
shorter the life of the main
filter. Most Weller filtration
units warn of near-clogged
filters, resulting in prefilters
being replaced in time
and allowing the full 12
months of use for the main
filter. If, once the prefilter
has been replaced, the
alarm remains active, it is
a sign that the main filter
also must be replaced.
Due to high filter efficiency
and the change warning,
Weller units have the advantage
of safely recirculating
filtered and, therefore,
purified air into the work
area at room temperature,
avoiding the waste of
cooled (in warm months) or
heated (in cold months) air.
Some models provide the
option to exhaust the air
outside if preferred.
A range of accessories
completes the range. In
addition to the above-mentioned
and extremely important
filters, Weller has
a comprehensive catalogue
that includes various solutions
for arms of different
lengths and diameters,
hoods and nozzles, hoses,
connectors and adapters
for installation, cabinets,
hoods and more.
All Weller filtration systems
are CE-approved and the
accessories that are
mounted on the workbenches
are ESD-safe,
allowing use in ESD protected
areas (EPA). Most of
the floor mounted filtration
units are ESD-safe as well.
Finally, most of the filtration
units can communicate
with Weller’s soldering
stations or other automation
that communicates
with a serial protocol. In
some cases, the soldering
stations can automatically
manage power on/off and
even adjust speed.
OSCILLOSCOPES FROM ROHDE & SCHWARZ
ANALYZE PASSIVE
LOW FREQUENCYCOMPONENTS
YOUR TASK
Vector network analyzers are perfect
for analyzing passive or active
components, such as filters, amplifiers,
mixers and multiport modules.
However, low frequency component
designers’ requirements include
lower start frequencies – sometimes
even down to a few Hertz. Traditional
network analyzers usually have start
frequencies in the kHz range.
ROHDE & SCHWARZ SOLUTION
Easily and quickly analyze low frequency
response on your oscilloscope
with the R&S ® RTx-K36 frequency
response analysis (Bode plot)
option. Characterize the frequency
response of a variety of electronics,
including passive filters and amplifier
circuits. The R&S ® RTx-K36
frequency response analysis (Bode
plot) option uses the oscilloscope’s
built-in waveform generator to create
stimulus signals ranging from 10 Hz
to 25 MHz. Measuring the ratio of the
stimulus signal and the output signal
of the DUT at each test frequency,
the oscilloscope plots gain and
phase logarithmically.
MEASUREMENT SETUP
The frequency response of RF networks
is defined as the ratio between
the output signal (termed as B wave)
over the injected signal (termed as A
wave).
Measuring the frequency response of
a network requires a source generating
signals across certain frequencies.
The amplitude and phase of the
input signal as well as at the output
of the DUT must be measured for the
calculation.
Use the Bode plot application to turn
your Rohde & Schwarz oscilloscope
into a frequency response analyzer.
DEVICE SETUP
Connect the oscilloscope’s generator
and one oscilloscope channel to the
DUT input, and another oscilloscope
channel to the DUT output. Start the
application:
- Set start and stop frequency
between 10 Hz and 25 MHz
and determine the generator
utput level.
- Set the points per decade to
improve and modify the resolution
of your acquisition. The oscilloscope
supports up to 500 points
per decade.
- For analyzing the phase and gain
shift of digital filters, the
R&S ® RTx-K36 option allows you
to set an additional hold off time
before each decade step.
- Press run to start your measurement.
The measurement results
are plotted as gain/phase over
frequency. Set your markers
to your point of interest.
MEASUREMENT RESULTS
Gain and phase waveforms displayed
in the Bode plots represent the
transmission function of the DUT.
Gain shows the amplitude frequency
response frequency range in dB. The
phase waveform displays the phase
characteristics over frequency, measured
in degrees.
Drag markers to the desired positions
directly on the plotted trace. A
legend displays the coordinates of
the markers. To determine the cutoff
frequency of a low pass filter, activate
two markers. The cutoff frequency is
defined as the frequency for which
the output of the circuit is 3 dB below
the nominal passband value.
SUMMARY
Engineers use oscilloscopes as a
primary measurement tool. Equip
your oscilloscope with a Bode analysis
option to determine the frequency
response of passive components. The
R&S ® RTx-K36 frequency response
analysis (Bode plot) option for the
R&S ® RTB2000, R&S ® RTM3000 and
R&S ® RTA4000 oscilloscopes provides
a low-cost alternative to low
frequency network analyzers or
dedicated standalone frequency
analyzers. With their 10-bit ADC,
low noise and 25 MHz generator,
the R&S ® RTB2000, R&S ® RTM3000
and R&S ® RTA4000 oscilloscopes ideally
meet the high dynamic range
requirements of this measurement
task.
FLUKE
HOW INFRARED CAMERAS HELP
YOU STAY SAFE ON THE JOB
If you troubleshoot or maintain
equipment in an industrial setting,
staying safe depends partly on the
environment and partly on you. You
want to make sure the equipment
is working within specifications to
avoid damage or injury from overheating,
misalignment, or power
quality issues. If you’re responsible
for keeping that equipment working
properly, you want to be able to
inspect and troubleshoot that equipment
from a safe distance.
Using an infrared camera can help
you on both counts. You can use it
to scan equipment, structures, and
processes from a safe distance,
which reduces your exposure to
hazards and in some cases, can
eliminate the need to get a hot work
permit.
Here are a few areas where a
thermal imager can help keep
you safe:
1. INSPECTING
ELECTRICAL SYSTEMS
With an infrared camera, you can
stand well outside the arc flash
zone and scan energized equipment
through special infrared windows,
all without having to open the panel.
This can reduce your risk, and perhaps
reduce the amount of personal
protective equipment (PPE) you
have to climb into.
2. POTENTIALLY EXPLOSIVE
ENVIRONMENTS
Using a thermal imager with a
telephoto lens can allow you to stand
farther away from the equipment in
a potentially explosive environment
and still get the detail you need. This
long-distance scanning can also
save you a lot of climbing to inspect
towers, stacks, or air scrubbers
and allow you to inspect areas you
wouldn‘t be able to get close enough
to otherwise without shutting down
production.
3. BUILDING INSPECTION
The long-distance capabilities of an
infrared camera with a telephoto
and/or wide-angle lens can also allow
you to scan a lot of ceiling, roof,
or wall area and duct work from the
ground. This reduces your chances
of falling from the rafters and expedites
your inspections.
BE PROACTIVE
INSTEAD OF REACTIVE
Take your plan for a proactive
maintenance (PM) program and turn
it into reality. To get started, you
need features that make it easy to
set up your image organization and
inspection routines. With the TiS55+
and TiS75+, you’re well on your way
to implementing a successful PM
program.
DITCH THE CLIPBOARD
With so many inspections in your
day, it can be hard to remember what
you saw and where you inspected.
Maybe you carry around a clipboard
to jot down notes. The TiS55+ and
TiS75+ come with built-in personal
assistants, which means you can
finally ditch the clipboard and have
all the information you need embedded
in the images you save, including:
VOICE ANNOTATION
- Record up to 60 seconds
per thermal image
- Identify exactly what you see
in real time
IR-PHOTONOTES
- Take photos of asset numbers
and other identifiers
- Use as a reference when looking
at the thermal image on your
computer
ASSET TAGGING
- Sort your thermal images
by asset
- Scan a QR code on your asset,
then start capturing thermal
images
- Images will automatically be
sorted by asset, simply connect
your camera to your computer
to view them.
HAMMOND ELECTRONICS
TOP TIPS WHEN SPECIFYING
SMALL ELECTRONIC ENCLOSURES
Your new project has been designed, prototyped, debugged, tested, tweaked, tested again and finally
signed off for production. In the ideal world, the enclosure would have been selected far earlier in the
process, but the first question after design finalisation is normally, “what size box do I need?”
1. SIZE
How big is the PCB? Is it to be mounted
horizontally or vertically? Many
plastic enclosures have slots in the
sides for direct vertical mounting
and mounting bosses in the top and
base for horizontal mounting. Extruded
aluminium enclosures will often
have slots in the sides for horizontal
PCB mounting. How much space
does there need to be on the faces
for indicators, switches, connectors,
cable entries and similar components?
What height is required for
board-mounted components or
multiple horizontal boards?
2. INSTALLED ENVIRONMENT
Will the product be used inside or
outside? Will the ingress of dust and
water be something to be considered
– see Point 4 below. Are there likely
to be contaminants present – oils,
chemicals and so on. Is impact resistance
a consideration? If so, metal
enclosures are better than plastic
ones. Are particularly high or low
temperature expected?
3. MATERIAL
For small enclosures, the choice is
mainly between ABS or polycarbonate
plastic, aluminium and GRP.
For outside installation, polycarbonate
or GRP are the default choices
for UV stability. Fire resistance is a
consideration; the relevant standard
is UL94, which specifies a vertical
or horizontal burn. The more stringent
test is the vertical burn test;
material will be classified as V0, V1
or V2 where V0 is the highest performance.
Aluminium enclosures are either
die-cast or extruded. Both are robust
and give good impact resistance,
they do not corrode and are electrically
conductive and are easily machined.
With a suitable gasket fitted
between the lid and the base, sealing
to IP68 can be easily achieved.
4. EMC
Plastic enclosures have one specific
weakness: they offer no EMC attenuation.
If EMC is a potential problem,
internal coatings in a variety of
materials can be applied to a plastic
enclosure to give different degrees
of attenuation.
Metal enclosures, providing that
there is electrical continuity between
the top, base and removable panels,
will provide an attenuation level suitable
for the majority of commercial
applications.
5. ENVIRONMENTAL SEALING
The relevant international standard
is EN 60529, which defines ratings
written as IPxx, where the first digit
defines the protection against solid
objects and the second the protection
against water ingress.
Typically, IP54 enclosures are suitable
for general purpose use; for
installation in environments where
dust and water are likely to be present,
IP66, 67 or 68 would be specified.
The highest rating is IP69K,
which gives protection against steam
cleaning at high pressure.
SOLID OBJECT PROTECTION CLASSES
First Scope of protection
Figure
0 No protection.
1 Protection against solid objects > 50mm.
2 Protection against solid objects > 12.5mm.
3 Protection against solid objects > 2.5mm.
4 Protection against solid objects > 1.0mm.
5 Protection against dust ingress in harmful quantities.
6 Dust tight.
PROTECTION CLASSES FOR WATER PROTECTION
Second Scope of protection
Figure
0 No protection.
1 Protected against vertically falling drops of water.
2 Protection against falling water drops up to 15° from the vertical.
3 Protected against direct water sprays from up to 60° from the vertical.
4 Protected against splashing water from any direction.
5 Protection against low pressure 6.3mm jets of water from any angle.
6 Protection against powerful 12.5mm water jets from any angle.
7 Protection against temporary immersion in water up to 1 metre deep.
8 Protection against continuous immersion in water greater than
1 metre in depth.
9K Protection against high-pressure, high-temperature jet sprays,
wash-downs or steam-cleaning procedures.
For example: IP68 is totally dust tight and suitable for continuous immersion in water
greater than 1 metre in depth.
6. APPEARANCE/STYLING
Plastic enclosures offer a choice of
opaque and translucent material in
a variety of colours, they can also be
moulded in a transparent material;
styled lids have recesses for membrane
keypads and displays. Aluminium
enclosures can be painted or
anodised in different colours.
7. DISTRIBUTOR TECHNICAL
SUPPORT
Distributors keep extensive stocks
of standard enclosures on the shelf,
and they are now joining manufacturers
in providing technical support to
their customers at the design stage
to help specify the most appropriate
enclosure.
8. DOWNLOADABLE DRAWINGS
Typical downloadable resources include
dimensioned drawings in PDF
and CAD formats to assist with design
and modification requirements,
technical details and key product
attributes.
9. SUMMARY
At first glance a small enclosure
may seem to be a simple box, but in
reality, it is the result of a great deal
of design effort that has created a
feature-rich housing suitable for use
in a wide variety of environments.
WERA
KRAFTFORM TURBO
AND KRAFTFORM TURBO VDE
THE KRAFTFORM TURBO –
MADE BY WERA: DRIVE YOUR
SCREWS 4 TIMES FASTER -
WITH PURE MECHANICS.
Can there really be such a thing?
A hand screwdriver with almost
unbelievable speed that works very
precisely and also enables powerful
final screwdriving.
The Wera Kraftform Turbo screwdriver
set can speed up screwing by a
factor of 4. In order to quadruple the
screwing speed, the Tool Rebels from
Wera have designed a turbo gear that
can be switched on or off as desired.
The turbo gear is made possible by a
particularly sophisticated planetary
gear that is located in the handle of
the screwdriver.
The Kraftform Turbo speeds up
screwdriving in a purely mechanical
way. Additional batteries are not
necessary. The best use of the function
is always possible when smoothrunning
screw connections have
to be mastered. The turbo function
can be deactivated at the touch of a
button for hard-to-turn screws (e.g.
in wood). This deactivation of the
turbo gear is also recommended for
fine adjustment or for final tightening
or loosening of a screw with high
torque.
The planetary gear is made of steel
and is therefore practically maintenance-free.
A long product life is
therefore guaranteed.
Thanks to the Rapidaptor bit holder,
the Kraftform Turbo can be used
with all conventional 6.3 mm (1/4“)
hexagon bits for a wide range of
screw profiles. The bits can be inserted
directly thanks to the Rapidaptor
function and easily removed
by pushing the sleeve forward -
all with just one hand.
In addition to the handle itself,
the 19-piece sets of the workshop
version of the Kraftform Turbo
contain further 18 bits in 89 mm
lengths. Everything neatly and
practically stowed away in a robust
textile box. This means that users
are also well equipped for mobile
use.
The insulated version for safe
working even under voltage works
according to the same principle as
the workshop version. Here, too,
the planetary gear can be switched
on and off. One difference is the bit
holder. With its 9 mm holder, the
Kraftform Turbo i is suitable for
all Wera Kraftform Kompakt VDE
interchangeable blades. This
„holder/interchangeable blade
system“ ensures flexible working
with many screw profiles.
The VDE sets contain 16 pieces. They
contain 2 handles: One is the 817
VDE Kraftform hand holder, the other
is the 827 T i Kraftform Turbo hand
holder. Also included are 14 VDE
interchangeable blades (each 154
mm long), some of which have a
reduced blade diameter/integrated
The new Wiha speedE ® II electric
is the ideal tool
for versatile applications.
WIHA
THE NEW WIHA SPEEDE ® II
ELECTRIC - FAST
HAS NEVER BEEN SO SAFE
WIHA E-SCREWDRIVER SPEEDE ® II ELECTRIC
TURNS EVEN FASTER & HAS TWO MATERIAL PROTECTION LEVELS
The new Wiha speedE ® II with two selectable material protection
levels 0.4 and 1.0 Nm. Shown here with yellow Power slimBit.
Hand tool manufacturer Wiha presents the new
speedE ® II electric screwdriver. Faster, stronger and
more versatile in design, the new generation of the
electric screwdriver now promises even more advantages
in use.
The Wiha speedE ® II has two material protection levels
of 0.4 Nm and 1 Nm, which opens up a new range of
applications. Thanks to its voltage-safe slimBit change
system (up to 1,000 V AC), the ‚Made in Germany‘
novelty offers offers users maximum safety, flexibility
and freedom of choice in everyday professional life.
Its worldwide unique mode of operation is characterised
by intuitive and simple operability: First, screwing is
done automatically 3 times as fast as with a conventional
screwdriver, then the material protection stop kicks in.
Particularly in the case of sensitive screwdriving, where
the screwdriver has to be used sensitively, excessive
force transmission can quickly lead to material damage.
Therefore, the 0.4 Nm power level should be selected in
these applications.
With the shift position to the 1.0 Nm level, speedE
speedE ® II can now also be used in combination with the
yellow Power slimBits as a tool for screwdriving tasks
with higher tasks requiring more force, e.g. for screwing
larger threaded of larger threaded screws, for example.
Finally, the screw can be sensitively tightened manually
in both material protection levels.
The ring switch makes it easy to operate in all working
positions. A ring LED light illuminates the working area
to the maximum, which further simplifies the user‘s
work and prevents shadows from forming on the workpiece.
The red and yellow slimBits are all individually
tested at 10,000 V AC, approved up to 1,000 V AC and,
with their signal colour, serve as an aid to selecting the
correct force level. For sensitive, more delicate screw
connections, small screw profiles are usually used. The
matching slimBits show the user with their red colour
that he should set the material protection level to the
red, 0.4 Nm level for this application. For stronger screw
connections with larger profiles, the yellow colour of the
corresponding slimBits shows that the slider can also be
set to yellow and thus to a strong 1.0 Nm.
Professionals who often use screwdrivers continuously
are relieved of a great deal of strain and muscle stress
by using the ergonomically designed speedE ® II, as the
strength-sapping screwing process by hand is no longer
necessary. Muscles and tendons in the hands, arms and
the entire musculoskeletal system are less strained,
which leads to a noticeable improvement in health
for users in many professions who use conventional
screwdriving tools on a daily basis. This is why it is also
recommended by German doctors and physiotherapists
of the AGR.
In terms of size and weight, the speedE ® II is comparable
to conventional screwdrivers, which makes it the
ideal companion for mobile applications. The ‚Made in
Germany‘ label underlines that the highest standards
are also set in terms of robustness and quality.
In addition to the e-screwdriver itself, the speedE ® II
set includes one red and one yellow slimBit, two standard
18500 batteries, a matching USB charger and an
L-Boxx Mini. Other accessories, such as the easyTorque
torque adapters, slimBit boxes, bags or, for example,
a matching power supply unit for the USB charger are
available separately.
The Wiha speedE ® II electric is the latest member of
the now 96-piece ElectricVario Family from Wiha, which
combines all screwdriving tools, slimBits, ¼“ hexagon
sockets, adapters and more in order to optimally cover
all screwdriving tasks with multiple combination options.
WAGO
NEW COMPACT
MID ENERGY METERS
WITH LARGE DISPLAYS
WAGO Energy Meters (MID)
with Push-in CAGE CLAMP ®
and lever
EASY INSTALLATION AND
CONFIGURATION
Crucial for trimming costs, comprehensive
energy measurement
is necessary to optimize energy
consumption. To simplify this task,
WAGO’s portfolio now has new
MID-certified energy meters that
feature lever-actuated Push-in CAGE
CLAMP ® connection technology and
several industry-leading benefits.
In addition to the values for active
and reactive energy, WAGO’s energy
meters also record the mains
frequency, as well as current,
voltage and power for all phases.
Furthermore, they are equipped with
large, illuminated displays so users
can conveniently scan all of these
energy characteristics at a glance.
Touch-sensitive controls also simplify
the operation of these meters.
An app that communicates with the
device via Bluetooth ® is also available
for easy configuration. Additionally,
all devices have both an M-Bus
and Modbus ® interface that users
can select from; two S0 interfaces
with an adjustable pulse rate are
available for both energy directions.
The lever-actuated Push-in CAGE
CLAMP ® connection technology
offers a key advantage: Wiring is
performed without tools and spring
pressure termination technology
provides maintenance-free and
secure connections over the entire
service life. Therefore, the meters‘
operational capability is permanently
guaranteed for currents of up to 65 A
– this a huge reassurance for those
with industrial applications that are
exposed to shocks or vibration.
With these new energy meters, a
wide variety of building or industrial
applications can be implemented
thanks to the MID declaration of
conformity. Applications with
consumption billing are also possible.
All recorded data can either
be shown on the large display or
conveniently recorded and displayed
in the WAGO Energy Data Management
application. The devices have
a width of just 71 mm.These slim
profiles save a tremendous amount
of control cabinet space.
