POSITION OF TREASURER
Candidates who have qualified for this position:
Objective 3: Support all nurses in Mississippi so they can work at their
highest level of education and training unencumbered.
Objective 4: Continue to support the mental health of our nurses.
It would be an honor to serve as your President and I humbly request
your support.
Gayle Harrell, MSN, NP-C, CWCN
Biographical Profile: After graduating from nursing school over 20 years ago, Gayle joined
MNA and started her commitment of volunteering. She has served
MNA in numerous ways: State and national delegate, Board Treasurer
and President. In addition, she has served as a contributing member
on the following committees: Awards, Advanced Practice, and Finance.
She gained valuable knowledge and experience serving as a Fellow to
Senator Thad Cochran. She has participated in the analyses and decisions
to make MNA financially stable. She served as the MNA Treasurer for
5 years, managed two financially successful wound care clinics, owns
and operates her own business, currently serves on the board of a
multi-million dollar health care business and has served on non-profit
organization finance committees. These experiences have provided her
with the tools to continue to serve in the Treasurer role. She would be
proud to serve MNA for two more years.
Statement of Intent:
If elected as the Treasurer of the Board of Directors, I plan to fulfill the
duties of this office to the best of my ability. With my previous years of
experience serving as a past Treasurer and President of the MNA Board
of Directors, and as a successful business owner, I understand that the
financial stability of MNA is vitally important. I have the knowledge and
understanding to interpret financial statements, investments, and cash
flow, and have experience in providing reports to the House of Delegates,
the Board of Directors, and the membership. I will enlist other members
to assist by becoming a member on the Finance Committee. I will work
in tandem with the executive director and the Board of Directors with
planning strategic ways to manage the budget to accomplish the goals
of MNA while maintaining financial stability.
My extensive experience serving as a past Treasurer and President
of MNA along with my many years as a business owner will allow
me to continue the duties of Treasurer without the need to learn the
many aspects of the position. While it often takes up to a year to really
understand any new role, I will be ready on day one, based on my prior
experience, to assume this responsibility. My experience and leadership
skills will help me to assist the Board in moving MNA forward on solid
financial footing. A Treasurer must not only be proficient with numbers,
