Bronze statue of anonymous<br />
Bitco<strong>in</strong> founder uncovered <strong>in</strong> Hungary<br />
A<br />
bronze statue was<br />
unveiled <strong>in</strong> Hungary’s<br />
capital which its<br />
creators say is <strong>the</strong> first<br />
<strong>in</strong> <strong>the</strong> world to pay<br />
homage to <strong>the</strong> anonymous creator<br />
of <strong>the</strong> Bitco<strong>in</strong> digital currency.<br />
The sculpture sits on a stone<br />
pl<strong>in</strong>th <strong>in</strong> a bus<strong>in</strong>ess park near <strong>the</strong><br />
Danube River <strong>in</strong> Budapest and<br />
has <strong>the</strong> name Satoshi Nakamoto,<br />
<strong>the</strong> pseudonym of <strong>the</strong> mysterious<br />
developer of Bitco<strong>in</strong> whose true<br />
identity is unknown, engraved on it.<br />
The featureless face of <strong>the</strong><br />
bust, wrapped <strong>in</strong> a bronze hoodie<br />
emblazoned with <strong>the</strong> Bitco<strong>in</strong><br />
logo, is heavily polished to make<br />
it reflective like a mirror <strong>in</strong> which<br />
viewers can see <strong>the</strong>mselves. Its<br />
creators, sculptors Reka Gergely<br />
The featureless face of <strong>the</strong> bust, wrapped <strong>in</strong> a bronze<br />
hoodie emblazoned with <strong>the</strong> Bitco<strong>in</strong> logo, is heavily<br />

of f<strong>in</strong>ally learn<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> true identity<br />
of <strong>the</strong> Bitco<strong>in</strong> <strong>in</strong>ventor. But no one<br />
came forward to claim responsibility<br />
for develop<strong>in</strong>g <strong>the</strong> cryptocurrency<br />
that has attracted tens of millions<br />
of <strong>in</strong>vestors and was adopted this<br />
month as legal currency <strong>in</strong><br />
El Salvador.<br />
Gyorfi said <strong>the</strong> statue is a token<br />
of respect to Nakamoto, and an<br />
effort to “raise awareness toward<br />
blockcha<strong>in</strong> and cryptocurrencies”.<br />
Along with o<strong>the</strong>r Hungarian<br />
Bitco<strong>in</strong> enthusiasts, he collected<br />
around $10,000 <strong>in</strong> cryptocurrency<br />
donations to f<strong>in</strong>ance <strong>the</strong> creation of<br />
<strong>the</strong> bust.<br />
