More than 99.7 per cent of WNZ shareholders and 100 per cent of PWC shareholders who voted supported the merger, which will see both companies become partners in anew entity calledWools of New ZealandLP. It will combinethe trading and operating businesses of WNZ and CPW. WNZchair JamesParsons said growers had spoken and backed thevision to build oneorganisation with strength and scale to makea real difference to New Zealand’s strugglingwool industry. “We are very pleased with this positiveresult, which validates our strategy to consolidate the sector and better link the supply chain from the grower throughto the consumer. ‘‘Bycombining operations, we can provide the scale, focus and shared vision to achieve better outcomes for our growers. Richard Young, chair of PWC and chair of CPW, whichis100 per cent owned by PWC, said the result laid the foundations to deliver improvedfortunes forthe wool sector. “This single growerownedentity willhelp drive our shift from wool as araw commodity to growerowned and brandedconsumerwool products. Ultimately, the development of an integrated supplychain aims to improve returnsfor our growers.’’ The transactionwas due to be complete by November 30. www.ashburtoncourier.co.nz Reserve board assets transferred Ashburton District Council has appointed the Hinds Reserve Board to undertake all the functions of the former Lynnford Reserve Board. All of the Lynnford Reserve Board assets, including administration of land, will go to the Hinds Reserves Board once all current liabilities have been settled, with any deficit (currently $2085.62) funded by council. Aplaque will be put up on the Lynnford Hall site to recognise the former reserve board and the contribution of the families in the area. The costs of the plague will be met by council from the property reserve account. The hall closed in 2019 and the final meeting of the reserve board was in April that year. The Lynnford Hall.
