GROVES<br />

Patricia Lou Groves, 75, of London died<br />

on Dec. 9, 2021, at <strong>Madison</strong> Health, London.<br />

Pat was born on July 1, 1946, in Hilliard,<br />

Ohio, a daughter of Carl M. and Marilyn J.<br />

(Stamper) Norris.<br />

She graduated from Hilliard High School<br />

in 1964. She was a lifetime member of<br />

Sybil Ann McNabb,<br />

age 86, of Huber Heights,<br />

Ohio, passed away <strong>January</strong><br />

2, <strong>2022</strong>. She was born October<br />

31, 1935 in Greenup, KY<br />

to the late Columbia and<br />

Daisy Williams Brown.<br />

In addition to her parents, Sybil was preceded<br />

in death by her husband, Paul McNabb;<br />

& brothers: Leonard, Alvis "Scoot", Lee, Leslie<br />

and Clarence "Gene"; sisters: Melvina, Estella,<br />

Etta, Dorothy "Dot" and Helen. Sybil is survived<br />

by her children: Chris Woods (Janne), Anita<br />

Woods-Dennis (Ed) and Angela Zwick; grandchildren:<br />

Mallory (Aaron), Breanna (Stephen),<br />

Olivia (Ryan), Eddie Lee, Shawn, Kaylee and<br />

Daisy; great-grandchildren: August, Annabelle,<br />

Raegan, Axel and Savannah; brother, Lawrence<br />

"Buddy" Brown (Juanita); many cherished<br />

nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.<br />

Sybil was a member of Landmark Baptist<br />

Church, where she was active in the choir. She<br />

retired from Stadco Automatics in 2000 after<br />

many years of service. Sybil loved the Smoky<br />

Mountains, singing, dancing and celebrating<br />

all occasions.<br />

Visitation will be held from 2-4 pm on Monday,<br />

<strong>January</strong> 17, <strong>2022</strong> at Newcomer North<br />

Chapel, 4104 Needmore Road, Dayton, OH,<br />

where the funeral service will begin at 4:00 pm.<br />

Pat loved camping, fishing and boating<br />

with friends and family at Lake Erie. She<br />

was an avid bowler, as she was a member of<br />

the Liberty Lounge Gals in the Tuesday<br />

Night Friendship League. She also was a<br />

tremendous cook who loved to cook for the<br />

“masses.” Often on Saturdays, she was with<br />

families and friends, rooting on her beloved<br />

Buckeyes.<br />

She is survived by: her loving husband of<br />

57 years, Robert Lee Groves, whom she<br />

married on March 11, 1964; sons, Robert W.<br />

(Jaimee) Groves of Cincinnati, Carl R.<br />

Groves of London, and Jerry L. (Deanna) of<br />

Hudson, Fla.; sister,Lana Wirth of Iowa;<br />

brother, Brian (Edna) Norris of Georgia;<br />

grandchildren, Tanner Groves, Brandon<br />

Duerler, Kirsten (Robert) Zofchak; five<br />

great-grandchildren; numerous nieces,<br />

nephews, and cousins.<br />

Pat was preceded in death by: her parents;<br />

brother,Brad Norris; brother-in-law<br />

and sister-in-law, Jack and Marilyn Groves;<br />

brother-in-law, Garry Groves; mother-inlaw<br />

and father-in-law, Pauline and Howard<br />

Groves.<br />

JONES<br />

Steven D. Jones “Caretaker”, 57, of London,<br />

Ohio, passed away on Dec. 14, 2021, at<br />

OSU Hospital in Columbus, Ohio. Steven<br />

was born at Grant Hospital in Columbus on<br />

Feb. 15, 1963, the son of Robert Steven<br />

Jones and Rose Gertrude (Rudolph) Jones.<br />

Steven worked at the Franklin County<br />

Sheriff’s Office for 25-plus years. He was<br />

also a veteran of the United States Army<br />

and served in Desert Storm, among countless<br />

other assignments.<br />

Steven is survived by his wife, Maria K.<br />

(Adkins) Jones, and children, Christopher<br />

L. Adkins, Katharina Jones, Christine M.<br />

Soter, Kelsea B. Lawver, Heather R. Soter,<br />

and Jomanda FL. (Tyler D.) Anderson.<br />

Steven is also survived by his siblings,<br />

David M. (Paula) Jones, Chris (Tom) Burg-<br />

Newberry, Timothy C. (Linda) Jones, and<br />

Patrick M. Jones. He is survived by his<br />

grandchildren, Dakota L. Soter and Nancie<br />

M. Anderson, as well as many nieces and<br />

nephews and his K-9 companion, Snuggles.<br />

Steven was received in Heaven by his<br />

parents, Robert and Rose Jones.<br />

Steven was a hero in life in many ways,<br />

from serving his country in Desert Storm to<br />

helping stranded couples on the side of the<br />

road. The impact he made in the lives of<br />

many was significant and always good.<br />

Steve had many interests in life, such as<br />

riding the heaviest motorcycle in the world,<br />

along with all the people who love him. He<br />

loved to protect peoples’ lives as well as<br />

their hearts.<br />

He became a hero even in death when he<br />

donated life-saving organs to multiple people<br />

who received a Christmas miracle.<br />

Steven is the hero each and every one of us<br />

needed, and he became that hero we needed<br />

and saved each and every one of us. For<br />

some of us, he was the dad we never had,<br />

the friend who listened, the husband who<br />

cared when others did not, and the friend<br />

who saved our lives. To each of us, he was<br />

different, but he saved us all. Steven D.<br />

Jones “Caretaker” will always remain a<br />

hero and light in our lives. He will never<br />

truly be gone.<br />

held on Jan. 15 at Rader-McDonald-Tidd<br />

Funeral Home, West Jefferson. Burial will<br />

be held this summer at Western Reserve<br />

National Cemetery, Rittman, Ohio.<br />

BELL<br />

Rose Mary A. Bell, 93, of London died on<br />

Jan. 2, <strong>2022</strong>, at the Ohio State Wexner Medical<br />

Center, Columbus. Mrs. Bell was born<br />

on Nov. 14, 1928, a daughter of Orazio and<br />

Francesca (Gasbarrao) DeLuca.<br />

She was a longtime member of St.<br />

Patrick Church, London, where she also<br />

was a member of the Altar and Rosary Society.<br />

She had been employed by the Girl<br />

Scouts of America as a treasurer for many<br />

years. She enjoyed cooking, especially Italian<br />

food and pastry. She loved animals of all<br />

types. She very much enjoyed spending time<br />

with her family and friends. She had volunteered<br />

at St. Patrick School in the kitchen<br />

and at other events and activities.<br />

Rose Mary is survived by: her children,<br />

Ann Frances (Christopher) Logan of Columbus,<br />

Bradley Allen Bell of London, and<br />

Larry Bell of Chillicothe; special family<br />

friend, Diane Bogenrife; grandchildren, Vincent,<br />

Liberty and Lauren; two great-grandchildren;<br />

and numerous nieces, nephews,<br />

and friends.<br />

She was preceded in death by: her parents;<br />

husband, Rodney “Rod” Bell; son,<br />

Steve Bell; sister, Hilda; and brother, Nick.<br />

Burial was held on Jan. 10 at St. Patrick<br />

Parish Center, 61 S. Union St., London. Entombment<br />

will be held at St. Joseph Cemetery,<br />

Columbus.<br />

Helen Elizabeth Shoaf, 84, of London<br />

died on Jan. 4, <strong>2022</strong>, in her residence. Born<br />

on Sept. 9, 1937, in South Charleston, Ohio,<br />

she was a daughter of David Alex and Ethyl<br />

Irene (Parker) Smith.<br />

For 34.5 years, Helen worked for General<br />

Motors, attended Newport Church of Christ<br />

in Christian Union, was a member of FOE<br />

Aerie 950 and loved to bowl.<br />

Survivors include: her daughter, Tolene<br />

Shoaf; son, Kevin (Susanna) Shoaf; grandchildren,<br />

Crystal Furguson, Michael Sullivan,<br />

Daniel Shoaf, Chelsea Thomas, Cassy<br />

Collier; great-grandchildren, Leelyn Furguson,<br />

Za’Ryah Robinson and Christopher<br />

Jack Daniel Shoaf; brothers and sisters,<br />

Barb Curry, Mary Mullet, Nina Sampsel,<br />

Dave Smith, Richard Smith, Harold Smith,<br />

Jack Smith and Roger Smith; numerous<br />

nieces and nephews.<br />

She was preceded in death by her parents<br />

and sisters, Freida Faye Alexander,<br />

Reida Smith, Ethel Sheerin, Jean Witbeck<br />

and Ruth Frazee.<br />
