Tbilisi, 6 Rustaveli Avenue, National Youth Palace – the most ambitious and gracious place of the capital. The building, wherethe history of the last two hundred years of Georgia and the story of Georgian talent were created together, written andthen again returned to history, because no one is able to remind you better, where you come from, and where you areheading to! These walls keep our nearest past, which we are extremely proud of. Ironically, Russian commander-in-Chiefswere standing at the origins of this magnificent place, all the 19th century. Then there were three years of independenceof Georgia and the first Georgian Constitution adopted in these walls. And then again, the twist of fate – probably one ofthe most (if not the one and only) humane decision of Bolsheviks – the palace belongs to everyone and it should serve tothe upbringing of the generations. When looking through the long list of children, raised here, it gets obvious that they were those who created the history of artsand sciences of last 75 years. Better avoid specification, not to get lost in the long labyrinth of big names and faces. The historystarted with the love and work of the successful tutors, will never end. One modern story gives us the right to claim it: severalyears ago, when the decision of the Palace to be sold was made, residents of Tbilisi went out in the streets from their cosyhomes and said “NO”. That’s how the bad decision was never implemented. Youth Palace is still one of the most ambitious placefor the city residents, as it unites talented teenagers and creates the bases for the future of Georgian art, science and sport.3
