technology of the future
DEUTZ demonstrates that it is forward-looking by
presenting at bauma 2010 two new engines,
the TCD 2.9 L4 and TCD 3.6 L4.
Their distinguishing features are a compact design, high performance
and proven reliability. The TCD 2.9 L4 is the new engine from DEUTZ.
DEUTZ is presenting the new engine for the fi rst time at bauma 2010.
It had been announced with the preliminary project designation
TCD 20XX.
Available in both naturally aspirated and turbocharged versions (with
or without a charge air intercooler) and equipped with cooled external
exhaust gas recirculation and 1,600 bar common rail high-pressure

injection, the ultracompact 4-cylinder 2.9 litre-series in-line engine
covers a performance range from 25 to 56 kW. The compact engine,
specially developed for extremely short and space-restricted installations,
offers high performance and torque with very smooth running.
The engine achieves a maximum 300 Nm of torque at 1,600 rpm.
A modular exhaust gas aftertreatment system has been designed to
meet the industrial machinery need for compactness and cost effi ciency.
A maintenance-free and cost-effective diesel oxidation catalytic
converter (DOC), along with a particle oxidation catalytic converter
(DOC + POC), can cater for most applications. A closed DPF option
(diesel particle fi lter) is also available.
For the TCD 2.9 L4 there is also a complete range of customer options
including effi cient lateral auxiliary drives and mass compensation
shafts. Oil change intervals at 500 h and a maintenance-free valve
train increase productivity and lower operating costs. Low noise levels
