StrawberryRecipesGLAZED STRAWBERRY PIEPatty LambrechtThis recipe came from my grandmother-inlaw,who made this pie from a favorite 1958cookbook.1 quart fresh strawberries, dehulled, washedand dried1 cup granulated sugar5 Tbsp. cornstarch1 baked deep dish pie shell1 cup heavy whipping cream, whippedand chilled (may substitute whippedtopping, if desired)Mash ½ cup of the strawberries, then addenough water to fill 1 cup. Add sugar andcornstarch, then boil this mixture untilthick. Set aside to cool.Line the baked pie shell with fresh wholestrawberries, then pour the cooled berrymixture on top. When ready to serve, topwith whipped cream or serve the cream ontop of slices. Serves 6.STRAWBERRY PUNCH BOWL CAKEPatty LambrechtThis recipe makes a lot, and the amount ofangel food cake needed depends on the sizecake you use. Grocery store cakes are muchsmaller than homemade cakes.Angel food cake4-5 cups fresh strawberries, dehulled,washed and dried1/2 cup granulated sugarTwo 5 oz. box instant vanilla pudding5 cups milk (whole or 2%)1 large container whipped toppingFresh strawberries for toppingPecans, chopped, optionalMash strawberries with ½ cup sugar.Set aside.Cut cake into 1 x 2 inch pieces.Mix vanilla pudding and milk until thick;fold in three-fourths of the whippedtopping.In punch bowl (or large bowl), layeringredients in two different layers,ending with pudding. Layer ingredientsin the following order: pudding, cake andstrawberries including the juice.Top with remaining whipped topping,fresh strawberries and nuts. if preferred.Serve immediately.
