Providing Emergency Care
We are thankful to have Olivia’s Fund to support
our shelter pets receiving specialist and overnight
intensive care that cannot be provided here at
Peggy Adams.
Ruby, Adopted 2/19/22
Ruby, a 15-week-old puppy, was surrendered to
Peggy Adams on Sunday, February 6th with her two
littermates because they all had parvovirus. Parvovirus
is a highly contagious disease in dogs that can cause
severe illness and even death.
All three puppies were very sick so we sent them to an
emergency clinic where they could receive intensive,
around-the-clock care. Unfortunately, over the next
few days, both of Ruby’s littermates declined rapidly
and didn’t make it.
Ruby was a fighter and she made it through. She was
nursed to health and came back to Peggy Adams a few
days later. She was spayed, vaccinated, microchipped,
and then placed into Peggy Adams’ adoption program.
On February 19th, Ruby found her loving forever
home, getting all the belly rubs she could ever ask for.
Ruby's Happy Tail
“Ruby is doing excellent. We conducted a DNA test
on her and the results were shocking. She is 50%
Chihuahua, 17% Poodle, 15% Bichon Frise and 13%
Miniature Schnauzer. She has bonded with everyone
in the family, including her new furry brother and
sister. She enjoys annoying her sister and cuddling
next to her brother after hours of play time. She
has already been on two road trips. One to our
other house in the Keys and the latest one to North
Carolina. Our family could not be happier having her
part of our life.” – Tony and April C.
About Olivia’s Fund: Olivia came to Peggy Adams Animal Rescue League after being rescued from an animal hoarder. She had
significant hip dysplasia and muscle atrophy from abuse and neglect. Olivia had also been shot with a BB gun and needed surgery
to help repair her legs. In honor of Olivia, we set up a special fund to help give a second chance to dogs and cats with medical and
behavioral issues that can be fixed with surgery, special medical treatment, or training. We decided to call it “Olivia’s Fund.”
