The dazzling "Flower Festival" opens the way for the return of Madeira's celebrations in early May. Between May and June, the events calendar is packed with music festivals such as the "Aleste Festival" and "Aqui Acolá Festival", as well as international sporting events such as "Ultra Skyrunning Madeira", "Trans Madeira" and the "Canyoning Madeira Meeting". Events such as the "Madeira Classic Car Revival" and other multicultural events of great local and tourist importance are planned such as the "Mercado Quinhentista", the "Festival do Atlântico", the "Festa da Cereja", the "Festas de São João" in Porto Santo and Calheta, as well as the "Festas de São Pedro" in Ribeira Brava and Câmara de Lobos, celebrations that will attract thousands of people to the Archipelago. Machico
s dias 3, 4 e 5 de junho de 2022
o são datas a assinalar na sua
agenda. Após um interregno de
dois anos, devido a pandemia covid19, o
Mercado Quinhentista em Machico volta
em força e promete cativar os visitantes
em mais uma recriação histórica.
Este projeto sociocultural de
natureza pedagógica tem a chancela da
Escola Básica e Secundária de Machico
em colaboração com o Município de
Machico e com o apoio do Governo
Regional.
O Mercado Quinhentista é um claro
evento de sucesso que ano após ano vai
ganhando cada vez mais admiradores.
É visto pela Câmara Municipal como
um marco fundamental para o
desenvolvimento local. O investimento
nesta iniciativa cultural é uma clara
aposta no turismo histórico.
Para além de toda a envolvência
que resulta da fusão entre escolas
do concelho (e até participação
de escolas de fora do concelho),

população e autarquia,
o Mercado Quinhentista
também promove
iniciativas paralelas como
exposições temáticas e
colóquios. Os colóquios
têm como principal
objetivo contextualizar a
temática anual do Mercado
Quinhentista e debater
o papel de Machico no
espaço atlântico e no
mundo.
Nas exposições temáticas podemos
referir algumas que já aconteceram
como “A Casa de Tristão”, “Navegadores
Quinhentistas”, “Herdeiros dos Capitães
do Donatário” ou “Instrumentos de
Tortura”.
Mercado Quinhentista
2022 tem como
temática “ÁGUA Sangue
da Terra”
“Água, sangue da terra”, tema da XVª
edição do Mercado Quinhentista, será o
ponto de partida para mais uma viagem
sensorial pela história da primeira
capitania do Reino, Machico.
