The dazzling "Flower Festival" opens the way for the return of Madeira's celebrations in early May. Between May and June, the events calendar is packed with music festivals such as the "Aleste Festival" and "Aqui Acolá Festival", as well as international sporting events such as "Ultra Skyrunning Madeira", "Trans Madeira" and the "Canyoning Madeira Meeting". Events such as the "Madeira Classic Car Revival" and other multicultural events of great local and tourist importance are planned such as the "Mercado Quinhentista", the "Festival do Atlântico", the "Festa da Cereja", the "Festas de São João" in Porto Santo and Calheta, as well as the "Festas de São Pedro" in Ribeira Brava and Câmara de Lobos, celebrations that will attract thousands of people to the Archipelago. No Dia Internacional do Piquenique, celebrado a 18 de Junho,
propomos-lhe duas Zonas de Lazer verdadeiramente encantadoras,
ambas localizadas na freguesia do Estreito da Calheta.
On International Picnic Day, celebrated on the 18 th June, we suggest two truly
charming leisure areas, both located in the parish of Estreito da Calheta.

Zona de Lazer dos
Lavadouros
Este recatado e tímido lugar
encontra-se à beira da estrada, talvez
por isso poucas pessoas conheçam este
encantador refúgio. É na curva da rua
Dr. Manuel Germano Gonçalves onde se
situa exatamente a zona de lazer dos
Lavadouros.
A surpresa acontece quando se
percebe que para além da churrasqueira
e dos bancos de pedra, que convidam a
um apetitoso convívio, existe mais algo
a descobrir ao descer a escadaria.
O verde invade-nos o olhar e o
entusiasmo é notável. É um verdadeiro
oásis repleto de flora endémica por
onde passa um curso de água fresca.
Para além disso, dispõe de instalações
sanitárias e água potável.

Lavadouros Leisure Area
This cozy spot is located by
the roadside, perhaps the
reason why few people know about this
charming hideaway. The Lavadouros
leisure area is located on the curve of Dr.
Manuel Germano Gonçalves Street.
You will be pleasantly surprised when
you discover that, in addition to the
barbecue and the stone benches, there is
something else to enjoy when you come
down the stairs.
The emerald green of the surrounding
forest sparkles in the sunlight, where a
freshwater stream flows through. There
are sanitary facilities and drinking water.

Ribeirinho
Localizada na ER 222, a caminho
da Rua da Figueira, é na curva que se
desvenda esta zona de lazer. Renovada
em julho de 2021, o seu ‘ar’ modernizado
é tentador para viver momentos
inesquecíveis em família.
Ideal para um piquenique agradável
nos dias quentes de verão, dispõe de
uma churrasqueira em pedra, assim
como bancos, água potável e instalações
sanitárias. O piso recentemente calcetado
dá uma beleza especial ao espaço.
As árvores ao redor e a fauna nativa
que ladeia o espaço torna-o deveras
atrativo e acolhedor.
Ribeirinho Leisure Area

way to Rua da Figueira, this
leisure area is on the curve. Renovated in
July 2021, its modernized look is perfect
for unforgettable moments with the family.
Ideal for a nice picnic on hot summer
days, it has a stone barbecue, as well as
benches, drinking water and sanitary
facilities. The newly paved floor gives a
special beauty to the space.
The surrounding trees and the native
fauna that flanks the space make it really
attractive and welcoming.
The 520 th anniversary of the
Municipality of Calheta is
celebrated on the 24 th of June.
