The dazzling "Flower Festival" opens the way for the return of Madeira's celebrations in early May. Between May and June, the events calendar is packed with music festivals such as the "Aleste Festival" and "Aqui Acolá Festival", as well as international sporting events such as "Ultra Skyrunning Madeira", "Trans Madeira" and the "Canyoning Madeira Meeting". Events such as the "Madeira Classic Car Revival" and other multicultural events of great local and tourist importance are planned such as the "Mercado Quinhentista", the "Festival do Atlântico", the "Festa da Cereja", the "Festas de São João" in Porto Santo and Calheta, as well as the "Festas de São Pedro" in Ribeira Brava and Câmara de Lobos, celebrations that will attract thousands of people to the Archipelago. N encontra-se um espaço cultural
de visita e interpretação que
engloba o mais antigo vestígio de
arquitetura civil existente na Madeira.
O espaço é dividido por quatro
edifícios: a Torre do Capitão, a Capela
de Santo Amaro, a Casa dos Romeiros
e ainda um edifício que adquire dois
compartimentos – uma área funcional
de serviços e uma área de exposições.
A Torre do Capitão, datada de
meados do século XV, é o ponto
principal do núcleo museológico, não
só por ter sido mandada construir para
ser residência de Garcia Homem de
Sousa, genro de João Gonçalves Zarco,
mas também por constituir a edificação
militar mais antiga da Ilha da Madeira.
De igual forma, aqui se encontra
a mais antiga capela da paróquia e da
diocese: a Capela de Santo Amaro,
considerada uma das únicas capelas
edificadas na região no século XV.
A Casa dos Romeiros, outro dos
edifícios que constituem o espaço e que
foi noutros tempos um local devoto, é
atualmente a receção e loja do Núcleo
Histórico.

às 12h30 e das 14h00 às 17h00
- Encerrado aos sábados, domingos
e feriados
A 18 de maio é comemorado o
Dia Internacional dos Museus.
Data ideal para conhecer estes
espaços, já que muitos têm,
exclusivamente neste dia,
entrada gratuita.
