assemelham a gritos.
O conhecimento existente sobre esta
espécie deve-se, quase na sua totalidade,
ao que foi descrito por Bannerman &
Bannerman (1965).
O Dia Mundial das Aves
Migratórias acontece a 9 de
maio e foi criado para destacar
a preservação das espécies
e do seu habitat, numa
consciencialização global sobre
as ameaças que as afetam.
Family: Apodidae
Species: Apus unicolor (Jardine, 1830)
Common names: Plain Swift

Einfarbsegler (G).
T
he Plain Swift is an endemic
species of Macronesia that
can be found in Madeira,
Porto Santo and the Canaries,
although it is most abundant in
Madeira.
From the coast to the highest
mountain,s this species nests in small
colonies among the rocks where it
feeds on insects.
Although the Plain Swift can be
seen year round, it is usually observed
in greater numbers during summer,
tending to decrease in the winter due
to possible migration.
A small bird, with a thin body and
narrow pointed wings, making it a fast
flyer, its plumage is dark and uniform.
It can be easily identified by its
sounds, which resemble screams!
The existing knowledge about
this species is almost entirely due to
what was described by Bannerman &
Bannerman (1965).
World migratory birds day
takes place on the 9 th of May
and was created to highlight
the preservation of the
species and their habitat,
in a global awareness of the
threats that affect them.
