was farewelledlast week aftera<br />
lifetime of supporting the<br />
community.<br />
MadeleineBurdon retired<br />
last Thursday after 15 years as<br />
part of the council’scommunity<br />
team and numerous social<br />
sectorroles beforethat.<br />
She credits her longevity to<br />
the people she has workedwith<br />
over the years.<br />
‘‘There’s nothingI’ve done<br />
that Icould have achieved on<br />
my own and that wouldn’tbe<br />
what communitydevelopment<br />
shouldbeabout.<br />
‘‘The community<br />
development advisory role I<br />
inheritedwas verybroad and I<br />
had lived in the district since<br />
1980, so it seemed the perfect<br />
fit.’’<br />
Madeleinesays her various<br />
roles were about supporting<br />
those who made adifference in<br />
the community.<br />
‘‘You are the peoplewho are<br />
hands on, who respondtothe<br />
needs of thousands of peopleon<br />
adaily basis, my roles sat<br />
behindyou and your agency’s<br />
work,’’ she said to many wellwishers<br />
at her public farewell.<br />
‘‘I am humbled by the work<br />
you all do and I’m deeply<br />
grateful to havejourneyed with<br />
you.’’<br />
