It all started with the efforts of
UNGA, 1965 they underwrote a
Declaration On the Promotion
among the youth of the ideals
of peace, Mutual respect, and
understanding between peoples.
On 17 December 1999, they
initial a recommendation made
by the world conference for the
formation of International Youth
Day to prepare the young leaders.
It was first observed on 12th
August 2000 and since then it is
celebrated every year to raise
the issues of young leaders of the
world to make them stand in the
frontline
International Youth Day
Theme 2022
The theme of International
Youth day 2022 is “Transforming
Food Systems: Youth Innovation
For Human And Planetary
Health “, focussing on the issue
and highlighting that no effort
could be successful without the
participation of youth. With the
support of young people, all the
world leaders can achieve their
targets.
Last year, the main aim of
International Youth Day was to
focus on the needs of the youth
and their engagement by making
local, national, and global
institutions inclusive in nature so
that the youth’s capacity to serve
the nations can be increased to
the top level.
This year it will shed light on
the issues faced by the young
people who all are experiencing
throughout the world. Half of the
youth’s population lacks basic
reading skills and math skills and
on top of it, childhood poverty still
exists in society. So international
youth day was marked every
year to raise voices against these
global as well as local issues.
Conclusion
2022 International Youth
Day is started with an initiative
to mainstream the young
generations of age group
between 15 and 24 years old and
their major issues so that the world
leaders could be able to solve
and work for the betterment and
prosperity of the youth. Every year
on 12th August it is celebrated
with great enthusiasm to work for
the needs of the youth and their
local and global issues.
We have many examples
of how youth participates
enthusiastically to tackle the
local and global issues of
their vicinity. One of them
is Tahir Ahuja who is a high
school senior, a political
activist, and co-founder
of the non-profit young
Khalsa girls. She amplifies
the engagement of youth in
politics to be able to build
confidence in them and
raise their issues and in fact
solve them creatively.
