Rye Arts Festival offers a broad
range of artistic events, with
world class performers from
around the globe. The Festival has
partnered with the City Music
Foundation (CMF) to showcase
many brilliant young professional
classical musicians. The music
programme mixes traditional and
contemporary featuring everything
from the hot sounds of West
Africa to the fusion of blues guitar
and Celtic fiddle (by way of 1920s
Charleston music and English
folk). The books programme is
headlined by best-selling author
Robert Harris, while Lord David
Owen will also provide a topical
talk about England’s relationship
with Russia, and the Reverend
Richard Coles will discuss his

groups, Kent Wildlife Trust’s
safaris showcase their vital
projects and conservation work.
This month discover the Wilder
Blean project. Throughout 2022
European bison, Iron Age pigs,
Exmoor ponies and Longhorn
cattle have been arriving at the
Blean. Join this safari to learn
about what characteristics led to
each species being chosen, how
their behaviour will replace some
of the management normally done
by humans and machinery, how
their presence should improve
habitats and biodiversity, and how
this will be monitored. Sightings
can’t be guaranteed and this is
aimed at adults, but 14-17 year
olds may attend with an adult.
