Staff Equal Opportunity Representative<br />
According to the Equal Opportunity Act of the State of Baden-Württemberg (ChancenG) the Staff Equal Opportunity<br />
Representative is the contact person for all people working at the University of Freiburg in the fields of<br />
fields of administration, services, cleaning service, technology/IT and in laboratories. Their aim is to ensure professional<br />
equality, especially for women, and the reduction of discrimination. The legal mandate for the Staff<br />
Equal Opportunity Representative includes the below mentioned points:<br />
• Advice on equal opportunity issues<br />
• Advice on compatibility<br />
• Accompaniment of personnel recruitment<br />
• Participation in University committees<br />
Since the respective amendment to the law in 2016, the Equal Opportunity Representative has the right to participate<br />
in all hiring and promotion processes and can attend job and personnel selection interviews.<br />
MENTORING PROGRAMS<br />
ALU-FR also offers a range of mentoring programs on a variety of topics<br />
• Kite Mentoring: A mentoring program for female doctoral candidates and postdoctoral researchers in the<br />
fields of physics, chemistry, pharmacy, mathematics, computer science, engineering, biology and medicine.<br />
The program is offered in English and is composed of three pillows: mentoring, training and networking<br />
• Futura Mentoring: This program pursues the goal of promoting young women in academic professions and/<br />
or<br />
management positions as well as the promotion of women who already have managerial responsibility, run<br />
their own companies or aspire to such functions.<br />
• EIRA Mentoring: Since the late 1990s, mentoring programs have emerged at numerous universities and<br />
colleges to increase the presence of women in all disciplines, including medicine, and in management positions.<br />
The EIRA mentoring program at the Freiburg Medical Faculty was launched in 2010 and has so far<br />
supported 116 mentees for a period of 1.5 years.<br />
• Justitia Mentoring: The Justitia mentoring program was founded in 2003 with the purpose of offering female<br />
law students the best possible study conditions and optimal starting opportunities for an equal career. The<br />
individual mentoring of the students (mentees) is provided by lawyers (mentors) who are close to the university<br />
and studies. The female students are usually accompanied throughout the entirety of their studies.<br />
