ADDING A SPLASH
OF COLOUR
Sheerline has invested over £1 million in a
new state-of-the-art powder coating plant,
bringing the most important secondary
process that happens to aluminium profiles
in-house for the first time.
This further investment in its fully vertically
integrated, single site UK manufacturing facility
helps strengthen Sheerline’s ability to offer its
customers the very best service and quality
possible. Ensuring that every Sheerline profile has
a beautiful, consistent and blemish free finish.
Greg Grabski, Garnalex’s Powder Coating
Plant Manager, explained: “In the past, we
have relied on third party suppliers to powder
coat our products, using well known and
well-respected companies to keep up with
the growing demand for the Sheerline range.
“Traditionally, this has meant transporting mill
finished profiles from our warehouse to the
powder coaters, waiting for them to process
it, then collecting it back before it’s put into
stock. This obviously racks up mileage,
increases the product’s carbon footprint, and
unavoidably introduces an extra incremental
opportunity for damage to occur.
“By investing in our own powder coating
facility, housed next door to our Hybrex
aluminium press we have built in efficiencies
and significantly reduced stock movement
– taking up to five weeks out of the process
involved in putting painted profiles into stock.
“This added agility, ensures we can fulfil
customers’ orders on time and in full, as
well as giving us direct control over quality
checks, with the ability to rectify any issues
in hours rather than weeks.
MULTI-MILLION INVESTMENT FOR REYNAERS
Having seen significant growth in recent
years, Reynaers Aluminium UK has invested
several million pounds in the extension of
its UK headquarters to optimise lead times
and to future-proof the business in line with
its growth strategy.
Work on the project began in July 2021 and
successfully reached completion in June 2022,
which now brings the warehouse space to
95,000ft 2 . and means that Reynaers can now
hold approximately 40% additional stock to
suit its customers’ changing requirements for
aluminium windows, doors and façades.
Enhancements to the site will also help to improve
the thermal performance of the building and
contribute towards Reynaers’ sustainability targets.
John McComb, Director of Technical Services,
said: “We had always planned to extend our
building, but brought those plans forward by
around three years due to substantial continued
growth. We don’t generally sit still as a business,
particularly when it comes to improving our
products and service to customers.
“We accept that a key part of this service is managing
customer expectations and making sure that we take
continual steps to improve our efficiency.
Hardware specialist VBH says
the greenteQ Clearslide lock
has been well received by
manufacturers of Deceuninck,
Kömmerling, REHAU and
Veka PVC-U sliders since its
launch.
The lock and keep are manufactured from hard
wearing stainless steel, and both are covered by
a 10-year guarantee. Eight sliding hooks and two
anti-lift pins ensure that Clearslide locks provide
a very strong connection to the frame. The lock
meets the requirements of all relevant security
standards, and is covered by Kitemark KM727991
(Building Hardware used in Windows & Doorsets).
Reynaers Aluminium UK
“The building extension plays a key part in
improving efficiency. It will enable us to boost our
warehouse stock bulk and pick faces by seven
hundred – an increase of more than 46%.
In addition to the customer benefits, the extension
project has allowed Reynaers to make important
improvements in the welfare facilities for its
warehouse staff, providing new centrally-located
toilets, canteen facilities and a dedicated rest area.
“The building now also has the advantage of a
covered loading and unloading area to provide
shelter to those working in the area and to protect
the materials.”
CLEAR BENEFITS WITH VBH PATIO HARDWARE
Approved Hardware list for its
Q-secure PREMIUM consumer
guarantee. This means that
Q-secure installers can offer a
guarantee of up to £8000 on their sliding doors.
Clearslide can be operated by the greenteQ
standard Alpha Patio P-Handle with its 10-year
guarantee, or by the Coastline stainless steel
handle set that is supplied with a 25-year surface
guarantee. The handles are interchangeable so
upgrading when required is easy.”
