night dance heroes<br />

VERY Saturday evening, thousands of local folk<br />
pull up their favourite chairs and turn on their TVs<br />
to catch the latest episode of Strictly Come Dancing.<br />
Now there’s an invitation for everyone to step out onto the<br />
dancefloor and make a few smooth moves of their own right<br />
here in <strong>Dronfield</strong>.<br />
<strong>Dronfield</strong> Vintage Dance is based at the Contact Club, Snape<br />
Hill Lane, and although its sessions attract enthusiasts and<br />
beginners from far and wide, organiser Craig Harrington says for<br />
some unknown reason, <strong>Dronfield</strong> folk have been slow to accept<br />
the chance to join in.<br />
“People join us from all over - Doncaster, Rotherham,<br />
Nottingham, Barnsley and Worksop - but we would really like to<br />
welcome more <strong>Dronfield</strong> people,” said Craig.<br />
You don’t need to be a celebrity and you certainly don’t need<br />
to have dance experience - just a desire to learn some steps<br />
and to enjoy yourself.<br />
With dancing to live music, couples and singles are made<br />
welcome.<br />
In addition to keeping fit, exercising the brain and providing an<br />
opportunity to make new friendships, dances here in <strong>Dronfield</strong><br />
also frequently raise funds for worthy causes.<br />
One recent event raised £777 for the Weston Park Cancer Care<br />
appeal and the <strong>Dronfield</strong> Community First Responders charity<br />
has received two sizeable donations towards its work.<br />
Forthcoming dates include a 1930s and 40s Swing Dance night<br />
from 7.30pm on Saturday, <strong>November</strong> 5th, and numbers from the<br />
1930s-60s at a Christmas Dance on Saturday, December 10th.<br />
Admission to each event is £8. You can simply turn up on the<br />
