New this year is a trackless train ride for
children and adults, and the carriage rides
are back. For both, participants are asked to
sign up for a time slot by leaving their name
and phone number at the Gingerbread House;
they will receive a text when it’s their turn.
Per tradition, the West Jefferson High
School music department will provide live
entertainment throughout the evening on
Friday. The music lineup for Saturday features
two groups new to Christmas in the
Park: the Norwood Elementary School choir
and the Madison Choral Group.
The lighted parade will lineup at 4:30
p.m. Saturday at the West Jefferson American
Legion Post, 9701 W. Broad St., and
step off at 5:30 p.m. Anyone is welcome to
enter; just show up at 4:30 p.m. Organizers
ask that participants try to incorporate
lights into their entries. The parade will
travel west on Main Street, left onto Twin
Street, and left onto Fellows Avenue.
A full menu of food will be available to
pick up in the shelter house with seating for
eating in the entertainment tent. The offerings
include hot chocolate, cookies, hotdogs,
popcorn, chicken and noodles, sloppy Joes,
and chili.
Beachy invites everyone to visit Christmas
in the Park for “fun, food and fellowship
made possible by the local community.”
The main sponsors of this year’s Christmas
in the Park are the village of West Jefferson,
Straight Up Equipment (provided
the lift to string lights), Mike’s Trucking and
Grade A Plumbing (trackless train), and
S&P Stump Grinding and West Jefferson
Hardware (carriage rides).
Monetary donations to help offset costs
associated with the celebration and display
can be made out to “Christmas in the Park”
