Republican Central Committee<br />
The <strong>Madison</strong> County Republican Central<br />
Committee will meet at 7 p.m. Dec. 6 at the<br />
<strong>Madison</strong> County Engineer's Office. The committee’s<br />
London residents will convene in a<br />
separate, public meeting at 8 p.m. that same<br />
night, also at the Engineer’s Office, for the<br />
purpose of filling a vacancy on London city<br />
council, Ward 3.<br />
Humane Society Bake Sale<br />
The Humane Society of <strong>Madison</strong> County<br />
is looking for individuals, groups, or companies<br />
to donate items for the Society’s annual<br />
bake sale. Baked goods can be dropped off<br />
between 1 and 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 13-14 and<br />
Dec. 19-20. The shelter is located at 2020<br />
Plain City Georgesville Rd. NE, West Jefferson.<br />

Shoe Sale<br />
London Mayor Patrick Closser has<br />
teamed up with Shoe Sensation, 226<br />
Lafayette St., London, for the Mayor’s Sale<br />
to benefit London City Schools’ Raider Rack.<br />
On Dec. 4 from noon to 5 p.m., Shoe Sensation<br />
will offer 10 percent off all regularly<br />
priced items, plus the store will donate 10<br />
percent of your total purchase to the Raider<br />
Rack to ensure children have the shoes they<br />
need this winter. The Raider Rack is an inschool<br />
store that provides free clothing and<br />
shoes to students.<br />
Health District Board<br />
The <strong>Madison</strong> County London City Health<br />
District Board will hold a special meeting to<br />
discuss personnel compensation at 5 p.m.<br />
Dec. 9. The board’s regular meeting is set for<br />
5 p.m. Dec. 12. Both meetings are at <strong>Madison</strong><br />
County Public Health, 306 Lafayette<br />

Board of Developmental<br />
Disabilities<br />
The <strong>Madison</strong> County Board of Developmental<br />
Disabilities will hold a public forum<br />
at 3 p.m. Dec. 8 to discuss goals and objectives<br />
for the 2023 Annual Action Plan. Afterwards,<br />
the board will hold its regular<br />
monthly meeting at 4 p.m. Both meetings<br />
will take place at the administrative office,<br />

“Corduroy’s Christmas.” Corduroy, the bear,<br />
will be at the library giving everyone holiday<br />
hugs or high-fives.<br />
• Live Penguin Encounter. At 2 p.m.<br />
Dec. 10, get an up-close and personal encounter<br />
with one of Newport Aquarium’s<br />
penguin ambassadors. Participants will<br />
learn about penguins’ natural history, geography,<br />
diet, predators, and WAVE Foundation's<br />
research and conservation initiatives.<br />
• Seed Exchange. Stop by the library to<br />
pick up empty seed envelopes and labels.<br />
Fill the envelopes with preserved or storebought<br />
seeds and return them to the library<br />
by Jan. 11. A seed exchange program will<br />
take place on Jan. 25.<br />
