CMT STUTTGART PREVIEW
PROGRESS THROUGH
ADVERSITY
After such a tumultuous few
years, CMT is keen to emphasise
that exhibitors and visitors for
2023 can book with renewed
confidence – all the signs are
green according to member of
the management board at Messe
Stuttgart, Guido von Vacano:
“The trade fair centre is already
almost seamlessly booked up.
In addition, there are a large
number of event formats that
will be presented to the public
for the first time. In particular,
the current market changes make
CMT 2023 more important
than ever as an exchange and
innovation platform for one of
the most important economic
sectors in our country, the trade
fair will provide answers to the
current challenges.
“For example, the specialist
programme of the CMT will
be expanded to include various
events on the topics of sustainable
tourism and international
understanding. In addition,
the Stuttgart holiday trade fair,
together with its four partners,
will be presenting attractive and
topical themes that fit perfectly
into these times.”
This year represents the 15th
anniversary for Messe Stuttgart
since it moved to its current trade
fair grounds at Filder – a milestone
that was celebrated late in 2022
during a special ceremony.
“The move to the Filder is a
success story for us. Since then, we
have been able to celebrate records
time and again and push into new
spheres with our now ten halls,”
said Stefan Lohnert, managing
director of Messe Stuttgart. “Of
course, our anniversary is also
accompanied by the effects of
the Corona pandemic. In the
meantime, our trade fairs such as
südback, VISION or hy-fcell have
shown that we are already back at
the level of the past with almost
identical or even higher visitor
numbers than in the pre-Corona
years. But it is also clear that
without the break, 2020 would
have become a new record year in
terms of total turnover and profit.”
CMT not only showcases
brands from around Germany
and the world, but it also
maintains a focus on local
tourism in the Baden-
Württemberg area too. Recent
stats on that show that the
downfall in tourism this area
has experienced due to the
pandemic is recovering nicely.
State Secretary for Torusim
Patrick Rapp said: “Our travel
areas in the state can benefit
from the new travel boom. Even
if the numbers have not yet
reached pre-crisis levels, it is
noticeable that people want to
discover new things again. At
the Stuttgart holiday trade fair
CMT, the world’s largest public
trade fair for tourism and leisure,
the state will present itself with
its regions, districts and cities in
Oskar Lapp Hall 6.”
MONGOLIAN MAGIC
Each year CMT has a
destination partner country and
for this year that destination is
Mongolia. The world’s second
largest landlocked country after
Kazakhstan, Mongolia attracted
approximately 637,000 tourists
in 2019, generating about
€540 million for its economy.
The country is geologically
characterised by endless and
untouched steppes, high
mountains as well as deserts
such as the well-known Gobi.
Mongolia is a particularly
popular destination for nature
lovers and adventure tourists,
as the varied landscape offers
something for everyone. The
capital is Ulan Bator, which
is also often called the coldest
capital in the world. In January
and February, temperatures of
minus 30 degrees Celsius are not
uncommon here. The best time
to travel for temperate Western
Europeans is therefore the
months from May to October,
with temperatures again reaching
up to 40 degrees Celsius in
summer. If this is somewhere
you’ve always wondered about,
then this show can help –
there will be opportunities for
camping, caravanning, and RV
manufacturers too. Learn more
▲ Many camping and camper brands will exhibit at CMT in 2022 – an estimated 2,100 exhibitors will be there.
