AA’s The Restaurant Guide 2023
showcases the Highlands
The AA’s The Restaurant Guide 2023,
which names the best eateries in
regions all over Scotland, has
recognised the Highlands as one of
the best areas in the country for
foodies. 27 restaurants in the region
were recommended, coming second
only to Edinburgh, which had 29
venues listed.
Some of the must-visit locations
included were:
Edinbane Lodge, a casual fine
dining restaurant with rooms set
within an historic 16th century
hunting lodge on the Isle of Skye. It
aims to celebrate the food, and warm
and friendly ambience the island has
to offer.
The dining is led by award-winning
chef patron, Calum Montgomery and
his wife Eilidh, who are both from
Skye and benefit from many
connections to local producers on
the island from fishermen to crofters.

Kilcamb Lodge Hotel, a small

Soho House to open first Scottish venue in Glasgow
Soho House, the world-famous group of private
members’ clubs with a membership rooted in the
creative industries, media and business, has
announced its plans to open a house in Glasgow – its
first in Scotland.
Launched in London in 1995, Soho House has
spread to over 30 locations worldwide. Following the
announcement by founder Nick Jones last year, the
company has now secured a provisional premises
licence from Glasgow’s Licensing Board, allowing
alcohol to be sold in its bars and restaurant.
The house, spanning four floors and planned to
feature a breakout space and roof terrace, will be
located near the central George Square. Membership
fees for over 27s are expected to be around £1,400
per year.
The move into Glasgow was driven by the city’s growing film industry,
with Soho House looking to tap into the industries of media, film, arts,
fashion and TV.
