Driving forward the
ESG agenda – taking the
‘E’ to the boardroom
ESG – short for Environmental,
Social and Governance – is a set of
standards measuring a business’s
impact on society, the environment,
and how transparent and
accountable it is.
It’s a vast subject matter for
directors to fully understand and
successfully integrate within their
business, but one which will
become ever more important for
organisations of all sizes to
embrace. Climate change is an
existential problem and not being
part of the solution is not an option.
At a recent IoD event in
Aberdeen, kindly sponsored by
Persefoni, a leading software
company that enables organisations
to create regulatory-grade carbon
footprint inventories and climate
disclosures, we took the ‘E’ to the
Boardroom and through a working
session explored how directors can
drive forward the environmental
agenda in their respective
organisations.
Over 40 directors heard from
CEO David Clark from Vysus Group
who shared his own insight and
perspective on adopting ESG,
before a number of group
discussions ensued to consider
practical and actionable
approaches in our roles as directors
and how we can successfully drive
forward the ESG agenda in our
organisations.
