The West Coast of USA is the nearest mainland to Hawaii so it is a great opportunity to
stop over and experience some beautiful destinations like Seattle in the Pacific Northwest
and Los Angeles in California en route to and from Hawaii.
The Pacific Northwest, Hawaii and California
Aer Lingus operate a direct service into Seattle and return home
via Los Angeles therefore allowing easier access to the Hawaiian
Islands. Your first stop is Seattle. No trip to the city would be
complete without visiting the famous Space Needle but there is
plenty more must-sees in this city. Seattle is the hometown of the
original Starbucks so pay a visit to Starbucks Reserve Roastery &
Tasting Room. Chihuly Glass Exhibition and Gardens is also a must
see as is Discovery Park and The Museum of Pop Culture. For foodie
lovers, Pike Place market is a real hot spot for tourists and locals
alike.
Oahu would be one of the best known of the islands. Waikiki Beach
is probably the most famous beach in Hawaii and its well worth a
visit! If you enjoy lying on the beach or prefer surfing SUPing or
canoeing there’s something for everyone. Diamond Head is another
landmark you don’t want to miss, hike to the top to get a
magnificent view of the surrounding area. Oahu is also home to
Pearl Harbour one of the Islands most historic landmarks.
The tropical paradise of the island of Maui is a real gem for nature
lovers with its stunning landscapes. We would recommend a trip to
one of the National Parks on the island. Haleakala National Park
which is home to miles of trails through volcanic landscapes. Iao
Valley State Park meanwhile is dedicated to the rich marine life
found in the waters of the Hawaiian Islands. Whale watching is
another popular onshore excursion and Maui is one of the best
places to do it!There is something to suit all tastes in Maui, hiking
through tropical forests, relaxing on the beach or enjoying some of
the excellent water sports available on the Island. It is a true island
paradise not to be missed!
Last call is Los Angeles! A city known for its year-round sunshine and
beautiful beaches. There is something here for all ages. The thrilling
rides and attractions at Disneyland and Universal Studios are sure to
be enjoyed by both the young and the young at heart. Stroll along
Hollywood Boulevard and see the stars on the Walk of Fame. Visitors
will enjoy downtown LA, full of great shops, bars and restaurants.
Alternatively, head to Rodeo Drive in Beverly Hills for some high-end
shopping. The Getty Observatory has some excellent exhibitions,
paintings and sculptures and the manicured gardens are well worth a
visit, the perfect location to watch the sun go down over the
sprawling city.
