one of the country's most popular spots for peaceful weekends and<br />

romantic getaways. While wine tasting and vineyard tours are the<br />

traditional things to do, the region offers a variety of other<br />

attractions, including hot air balloon rides, spa treatments, and trips<br />

Days 6-7: Lake Tahoe Today you drive from Sonoma to South Lake<br />

Tahoe – why not take a lunch stop in Sacramento en route. High in<br />

the Sierra Nevada mountains on the shore of one of <strong>America</strong>’s most<br />

scenic lakes, South Lake Tahoe captures the spirit of the outdoors<br />

and serves as a hub for tourism activities surrounding the<br />

lake. Change things up with these side-trips from South Lake Tahoe:<br />

Reno (National Automobile Museum & Truckee River Walk). The<br />

adventure continues: explore the activities along Emerald Bay State<br />

Park, admire the striking features of Vikingsholm, try your luck<br />

at Harveys Casino, and look for gifts at Tahoe Fly Fishing Outfitters.<br />

Explore Lake Tahoe: Heavenly Mountain Resort for outdoor<br />

adventure, Emerald Bay State Park, Casinos at Harrah’s Lake Tahoe,<br />

Days 8-9: Mammoth Lakes Mammoth Lakes is a great base camp for<br />

exploring all the things that make the mountains of California<br />

extraordinary. Connect with family and friends over a hike to<br />

Rainbow Falls, or explore the Devil’s Postpile National Monument.<br />

Other amazing places to visit are Mono Lake, Hot Creek Geological<br />

Site, or Bodie, California’s official “ghost town,” where the Old West<br />

still lives. The Mammoth Lakes Basin is full of places to find a quiet<br />

hike, catch a trophy trout or take a gentle bike ride with your family<br />

on the paved paths. Find your own natural hot springs to relax in, or<br />

live it up at one of the festivals or events that make Mammoth Lakes<br />

famous. After a day of adventure, take in the majestic mountains<br />

vistas over a great meal at one of Mammoth Lakes’ more than 70<br />

restaurants or a nationally famous craft brewery.<br />

Explore Mammoth, hike Twin Lakes Trails, Mammoth Museum at the<br />

Hayden Cabin, and then shake up your sightseeing with a climbing<br />

tour.<br />

South Lake Tahoe – Mammoth Lakes (3 hour drive)<br />

Day 10: Santa Monica – Los Angeles Today is your last day in<br />

California so start the day early to allow you enjoy some time at the<br />

beautiful Santa Monica beach and Pier. Santa Monica Beach seems<br />

to go on forever and offers plenty of space to stretch your legs, set<br />

up for a game of volleyball or go for a bike ride along the waterfront<br />

bike trail. Its famous for its iconic sights and eats with fresh farm to<br />

table restaurants and an abundance of seafood.<br />

Day 11: Departure Enjoy some last minute sunshine on the beach<br />

before packing up and returning your rental car to Los Angeles<br />
