The Bank Holiday weekend of 1-2
May saw an excellent selection of
bulls forward for the annual Spring
Bull Sales at United Auctions, Stirling.
The pre-sale show took place on the
morning of the 1 May, overseen by
judge Vince Corbett of the Teme herd
and his Junior Judge Lois Scott. The
sale then began in earnest on Monday
2nd May, seeing a total of 30 bulls sold
with an 88% clearance and an average
price of £5845 – up £230 on last
Spring’s sale.
Taking the top price of 14,000gns
was class winner GLENERICHT
ROBERT, bred by W K & P Drysdale of
Blairgowrie, Perthshire. This impressive
young 19-month-old was sired by
Glenericht Mecca, who boasts an
incredible +31.3 calving ease EBV.
Top price Glenericht Robert at 14,000gns
Meanwhile his dam is Glenericht
Nimble, a daughter of the 15,000gns
Maerdy Hwre. Robert caught the
eye of W Dunlop & Sons, who will
be introducing him to their herd in
Dunbar, East Lothian.
Reaching the next highest price of
11,000gns was another class winner:
TONLEY RANALD from N A Wattie of
Alford, Aberdeenshire. Ranald was
born to Tonley Nancy, a Caylers Hustler
daughter, and he was sired by the
30,000gns Silver Joss. At 23 months
old, Ranald was among the oldest of
the bulls forward for sale, but this
did not deter the bidders. Coming
out on top in the flurry of bids was
Brailes Livestock, who will be taking
Ranald home to Moreton-in-Marsh,
Gloucestershire.
Coming in at the next highest price of
9,000gns was another from W K & P
Drysdale – GLENERICHT RAMBLER. This
young lad was sired by the Glenericht
herd’s stock sire Caylers Oxford, who
is a trait leader in several growth
EBVs, and his dam is Glenericht Ibza,
a daughter of Balthayock Graduate.
Winning the bid and taking this
19-month-old home is R Leggat of New
Pitsligo, Aberdeenshire.
from AJR Farms in Ellon,
Aberdeenshire, who sold for a final
also combines some French genes in
his pedigree, with his dam Newlogie
French Univers-Ra. Realdream will be
making the trip to Maybole, Ayrshire,
to the herd of winning bidder A Paton
