The general public is to be advised that a<br />
New Zealand Army Exercise will be conducted<br />
in the West Melton Rifle Range area on<br />
7th <strong>February</strong> 23.<br />
The exercise will involve up to 25 personnel<br />
of the Combat Service Support Battalion<br />
from Burnham Military Camp.<br />
Training will involve soldiers conducting and<br />
running a grenade range activity as part of a<br />
qualifying course.<br />
Grenades will be thrown from 10am - 4pm<br />
on 7 <strong>February</strong> 23.<br />
The New Zealand Army takes fire risk seriously<br />
and will ensure fire mitigation is present.<br />

The exercise will involve up to 25 personnel of<br />

The range practice will commence at 4pm and<br />
finish at 10.30pm.<br />

HORORATA WAR MEMORIAL RESERVE –<br />
RESERVE REVOCATION<br />
The Council is giving notice of a proposal to seek the Minister of Conservation’s<br />
approval to revoke the war memorial reserve status of the Hororata - - Community Hall<br />
on the corner of Hororata - - Road and Duncans Roads, Hororata - - (4047 m2 being Part<br />
Reserve 954 comprised in Record of Title CB610/4).<br />
The proposal is that once the reserve status has been revoked the land will be<br />
transferred at a nil consideration (together with adjoining Council-owned land described<br />
as part of Reserve 954 and comprised in Record of Title CB610/5) to the Hororata - -<br />
Community Trust a registered charity for restoration and development as part of a<br />
community hub in Hororata. - -<br />
The war memorial will be honoured by the registration of a covenant protecting the<br />
Rolls of Honour in the Hall, and the hall will be further protected as a heritage building<br />
under the Proposed <strong>Selwyn</strong> District Plan.<br />
Written submissions on this proposal can be made no later than 5pm on 3 March <strong>2023</strong>.<br />

a High Explosive grenade practise at West<br />
Melton Rifle Range on the 09 Feb <strong>2023</strong><br />
between 10am – 4pm.<br />

LITTLE RAKAIA BOATING CLUB Inc.<br />
The Little Rakaia Boating Club Inc is holding its annual Giant Slalom on the<br />
Rakaia Lagoon on the 11th <strong>February</strong> <strong>2023</strong>.<br />
The club has a Temporary Reservation Certificate issued pursuant to;<br />
Canterbury Regional Council Safety Bylaw 2<strong>01</strong>6. Clauses 8, 12 and 32 for the<br />
days 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th <strong>February</strong>.<br />
No vessel shall navigate within the reserved area (Little Rakaia Huts Rakaia<br />
River Lagoon) except with the expressed permission of and in a manner<br />
explicitly approved by the certificate holder or his delegate.<br />
Uplift of 5 knot rule within 200m of shore or structure, uplift of the 5 knots<br />
within 50m of another competitor (NS Bylaw 2<strong>01</strong>6 clause 8, a, b) or in case of<br />
an emergency.<br />
Please note that there will be a designated 5 knot zone cordoned off to allow<br />
the general public to launch boats and gain access to the Rakaia River via<br />
the boat ramp and lagoon.<br />
There will be considerable activity on and around the Little Rakaia Huts boat<br />
ramp during the stated PICK periods and IT the public UP... are asked to be aware and<br />
respect the ruling.<br />
