ABOUT PEGASUS<br />
HEALTH<br />
Pegasus Health is a charitable organisation<br />
committed to 'all people living in<br />
Canterbury leading healthy lives’.<br />
We support general practices and<br />
community-based health providers within<br />
Canterbury to deliver quality health care to<br />
more than 445,000 enrolled patients. We<br />
have primary care teams that are responsive<br />
to the wellbeing needs of our patients and<br />
communities.<br />
Prioritising Māori, Pasifika and people with<br />
mental health needs is important to our<br />
work.<br />
FREE Pegasus Health services<br />
Below is a brief overview of the many services Pegasus offers for you and your<br />
whānau. Your Pegasus GP can best help you access these services and more.<br />
If you are new to Canterbury or have not yet enrolled with a GP, head to<br />
pegasus.health.nz/gp-locator/ to find your nearest Pegasus general practice.<br />
B4 School Checks<br />
Free for all four-year-olds. It is a chance to have children’s health and<br />
development checked and an opportunity for parents to discuss their children<br />
with a Registered Nurse.<br />
Child Health Support Service<br />
This free service aims to improve the health, social, behavioural needs and<br />
wellbeing of children aged 0- 17 years. Child Health Support Services work<br />
alongside the general practice team, offering a home visit to understand needs,<br />
provide information and link family, whānau and caregivers to services and<br />
agencies for ongoing support.<br />
Here Toitū<br />
This free service is for people over the age of 65 who have fallen or are at risk of<br />
falling. Physiotherapists or registered nurses will visit them in their homes to do<br />
assessments. Programmes are also run to help improve their strength and<br />
balance.<br />
Partnership Community Workers (PCWs)<br />
PCWs work with people who are not enrolled in general practice or are not<br />
visiting their general practice as often as they need. <strong>The</strong> service is aimed at<br />
identifying and managing barriers that a person or whānau may have in<br />
accessing healthcare.<br />
Puāwai - Kai<br />
A free group lifestyle, education and cooking programme. <strong>The</strong> programme<br />
consists of eight sessions where patients focus on lifestyle changes, with kai<br />
support and cooking.<br />
Rongoā Kōrerorero | Talking <strong>The</strong>rapies<br />
This service helps support patients with their mental health and wellbeing.<br />
Talking <strong>The</strong>rapy is a private and confidential service where patients talk to an<br />
experienced mental health clinician. Patients can receive up to five free sessions<br />
which can be in person or over the phone.<br />
Falls Prevention<br />
This free service is for people over the age of 65 who have fallen or are at risk of<br />
falling. Physiotherapists or registered nurses will visit them in their homes to do<br />
assessments. Programmes are also run to help improve their strength and<br />
balance.<br />
Te Tumu Waiora<br />
Aims to provide all New Zealanders experiencing mental health distress, or<br />
addiction with high-quality integrated, person-centred care and support.<br />
Whakarongorau Aotearoa<br />
A free public, virtual health, mental health, and social service that is available 24<br />
hours a day 7 days a week. <strong>The</strong>y help direct patients to the correct service that<br />
they need. Services provided by Whakarongorau Aotearoa include Healthline<br />
and 1737 Need to Talk.<br />
Suicide Prevention and Postvention<br />
A collaborative and coordinated approach to preventing suicide. <strong>The</strong> team<br />
implement a range of suicide prevention and postvention activities that are<br />
designed to reduce the number of suicide attempts and provide bereavement<br />
and post-attempt support.<br />
