Hygiene
Initiative
By Dedra Cordle
Staff Writer
As a child growing up in a single parent
household, Kayla Davis could only
watch as her mother was forced to make
difficult choices between paying the
monthly utilities or providing the essentials
for her children when her finances
could not be stretched further.
Even with the assistance of federal
housing programs and supplemental
food programs, it was a constant battle
for the family of six to stay afloat, let
alone get ahead, financially.
“She would always try but sometimes
it came down to whether she would be
able to pay off this bill and still have
enough left over to provide us all with
food to eat, and other times it came down
to whether she could afford to buy us
hygiene products or if she would have to
use those extra dollars to be able to pay
the water bill,” said Davis.
Although she said she often felt a
sense of helplessness as she witnessed
her mother have to make these heartbreaking
decisions for her family, it
instilled within her a determination to
take steps to improve the lives of those
who may be in a similar situation.
“It is really unfortunate that there are
so many people out there that have to
make those choices, that have to sit down
with their families and explain that they
may have to go without something that
is essential and needed because you cannot
afford it at the time,” she said.
In her effort to make a positive impact
on the community, the westside native
A Step in the Right Direction, a local non-profit organization which provides a variety
of resources to the underserved population on the westside, is ready to launch a
new initiative called The Hygiene Free Store. Beginning on March 1, individuals and
families who live in four specific zip codes – 43222, 43223, 43204, and 43228 – will
be able to request up to five personal hygiene items and cleaning supplies that are
currently in stock free of charge, regardless of income. According to Kayla Davis, the
executive director of the non-profit, community partners and generous donors have
purchased hundreds of items ranging from body wash, dish soap, detergent,
deodorant, toilet paper and toothbrushes and toothpaste that will be used to serve
more than 40 families and individuals for the next several months. “We are so excited
to start this new project because we know there is such a need for it,” said Davis,
the city in the current budget and the ones to follow.
“This is a task that we take seriously because it
could have implications for the community for decades
to come,” said Dan Fagan, chair of the Hilltop commission
during an interview after its February meeting.
According to Fagan, city officials will soon release a
budget request form to the area commissions which
will enable its members to gather information from
residents via committee meetings, personal email, or
through its official website and social media page
regarding potential infrastructure projects. (Residents
should also be able to access the budget request form
via the city’s website.) Through a collaborative process,
the parties will determine which projects they believe
should be deemed a funding priority by the city.
Fagan said while it is unlikely the city will be able
to fund every project the commission notes as a priority,
having that list on hand will allow the city to keep
on record the improvements the residents would like to
see take place within their community.
“And then hopefully they will be able to address
Open house on proposed park
Prairie Township will host an open house at 6 p.m.
March 15 at the Community Center, 5955 West Broad St.,
Free lunch at Hilltop Methodist
The United Hilltop Methodist Church will host a free
community lunch every Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The
church is located at 99 S. Highland Ave.
those issues in time,” he said.
The commission will accept input on possible infrastructure
projects until the end of March. It will then
be submitted to the city for future consideration.
Last year, the commission and the Hilltop residents
came up with a capital improvements budget request
and saw several of its projects receive funding. Some of
the items on the 2022 list included improvements to
the alleys through additional lighting, resurfacing, and
permanent refuse collection bins; street repairs to
West Broad Street; sidewalk and crossing upgrades to
portions of Sullivant Avenue and West Broad Street;
funding to build a new police substation on Sullivant
Avenue; and the construction of a youth recreation
center in the Holly Hill/Georgian Heights area.
According to Averi Townsend, a legislative advisor
with the city council’s division of community engagement,
millions of dollars have been budgeted for infrastructure
projects throughout the Greater Hilltop area
and there are still several million dollars more that
have been allocated or earmarked for improvements.
Some of the budgeted items include $12.6
million for the construction of the Sullivant
Avenue substation; an allocation of $4 million
for the execution of the Envision
Hilltop plan; $1.4 million for new sidewalks
on Springmont Avenue and an allocation of
$2.6 million and $2.3 million for roadway
improvements to Wheatland Avenue and
portion of Sullivant Avenue, respectively.
Major new spending items including $33.9
million for Blueprint Hilltop Lining Project
with a potential allocation of an additional
$39 million in the 2023 budget. The goal of
the Blueprint Hilltop Lining Project is to
rehabilitate existing sanitary sewer mains
and associated manholes in a project area
that includes West Broad Street on the
north, Derrer Road on the west, Sullivant
Avenue on the south, and Wheatland
Avenue on the east.
In other news from the meeting, the
commission unanimously approved a
motion to send a letter of support to the
Franklinton Area Neighbors (FAN) as they
try to preserve the historic Engine House
No. 10, located at 1096 W. Broad St. The
engine house, which was active from 1897
through 2008, is currently owned by the
city. FAN would like to see it either be
rehabilitated and brought up to code to use
as a venue, or have it become registered as
a historic place within the state. They plan
to present the letters of support to the city
council next month.

and 2010 graduate of Franklin Heights
High School founded a non-profit organization
four years ago that was designed to
help individuals who had experienced
homelessness, served time in prison, or
were recovering from addiction with reentry
into society. In addition to providing
housing assistance resources or workforce
placement opportunities for these individuals,
A Step in the Right Direction also was
able to establish a number of summer-time
festivities for children that also served as a
link to community resources for their parents
and guardians.
“Those events had quite a few different
purposes,” said Davis. “Not only did it provide
kids and their families with quality
bonding time in a safe environment, but it
also allowed us to ask our community what
their needs are and how they felt we could
best serve them.”
The feedback that was received recently
prompted the local non-profit to establish
three new pillars to address the needs of
the under served on the westside. Those
pillars are workforce development, family
engagement, and health disparities.
According to Davis, the workforce development
pillar will establish additional outreach
fairs for the community to find wellpaying
jobs and opportunities in the region;
the family engagement pillar will be
designed to build and uplift the community
through activities and events; and the
health disparity pillar will aim to close
those gaps through a variety of initiatives.
While the non-profit organization is still
working to strengthen its first two pillars
before they are officially unveiled to the
public, the third pillar is finally ready to
“set up shop” with the Hygiene Free Store.
“I am so excited for this initiative to
launch because I believe there is a real
need for this service within our community,”
said Davis.
For the past several months, Davis and
the non-profit volunteer army have teamed
up with a host of community partners such
as Action for Children, CareSource, the
Greater Hilltop Area Shalom Zone and the
Period Pantry Project and generous donors
throughout central Ohio to purchase and
collect personal hygiene products and
cleaning supplies to serve individuals and
households who live in these four area
codes — 43204, 43222, 43223, and 43228.
“The items in our Hygiene Free Store
will be offered free of charge and there is no
income threshold,” said Davis. “Anyone
who ever finds themselves in need is welcome
to request items.”
Starting on March 1, interested parties
will be able to request up to five personal
hygiene items and cleaning supplies along
with three substitution items through A
Step in the Right Direction’s Facebook
page, website, or business number. Due to
the fact that the Hygiene Free Store is not
an actual storefront at this time, individuals
and households will have to schedule a
pick-up time at the Hilltop Branch of the
Columbus Metropolitan Library, 511 S.
Hague Ave., on and after March 25. In the
event of an emergency, clients are asked to
reach out to the non-profit’s representatives
for assistance.
“We are here to try to make life a little
easier for people who may be struggling
with some things in their lives,” said Davis.
“We want to be able to be there for them
and to do that we have to have flexibility
with their situation or ability to acquire
transportation to get these essentials they
need.”
There are currently hundreds of items
in stock at the Hygiene Free Store. They
include bars of soap and body wash;
deodorant; dish soap; detergent; menstrual
products; multi-purpose cleaners; toilet
paper; toothbrushes and toothpaste; and
trash bags. The Hygiene Free Store also
has a few medical supplies on hand such as
condoms, face masks, fentanyl test strips
and Narcan, and there is also a limited
supply of clothing items for those who are
in need of socks and underwear.
Davis said the store’s current stock of
items should be able to serve at least 50
individuals and/or households for the next
three months. If donations keep arriving to
replenish the store, Davis estimates they
will be able to assist more than 400 individuals
and families living on the westside by
the end of the year.
“Our ultimate goal is to expand into
other communities outside of these four zip
codes so we can continue to provide these
essential items to other under served populations
but we will have to see how this
takes off,” she said.
Davis said she is hopeful that the community
will respond favorably to A Step in
the Right Direction’s new initiative to close
the gap on health disparities.
“I know that it can be really hard to ask
for help, but I just want people to know
that we are out here to try to break down
some of the burdens so people in the community
do not have to decide whether to
pay a bill or feed their family or buy
hygiene products or cleaning items,” she
said. “We’re here to say ‘Hey, we will take
that off your plate so you can just go ahead
and feed your family. You do not have to
decide between this, that, or the other right
now.’”
To make a request for personal hygiene
products, household cleaning supplies, or
any of the medical supplies or clothing
items at the Hygiene Free Store, visit A
Step in the Right Direction’s Facebook
page or their website at www.intherightdirection.org
to fill out a form. Inquiries can
also be made to the non-profit’s business
number, 614-254-0046. If you are a client of
Action for Children or the Greater Hilltop
Area Shalom Zone, requests for items can
be made on your behalf.
If you are interested in donating items
or contributing monetarily to the Hygiene
Free Store, call 614-245-0046 or reach out
via Facebook or the website.
Shyla Jackson reorganizes the products
on the shelves. When individuals or families
request the five personal hygiene
items or cleaning supplies, they can also
request three substitute items including,
but not limited to, clothing apparel such
as socks and underwear or medical products
such as fentanyl test strips or
Narcan.
STATE REPRESENTATIVE
We Settle
into the
Work
The Ohio House of Representatives conducts
the bulk of its work through its committee structure.
The House Rules and Reference Committee
refers each introduced bill to one of 28
legislative committees for hearings and discussion.
In these smaller groups, bills are researched
and dissected. Proponents and
opponents provide information, justification
and/or opposition to each proposal. Should a
bill garner sufficient support, it gets approved
by the committee for consideration by the
entire House. If it is approved by the House, it is
sent to the Senate, where it undergoes a similar
process.
The Senate can approve a bill, alter it, or deny it.
A collective “no” vote kills the proposal. An
altered bill goes back to the House for reconsideration.
An approved bill is sent to the Governor
for his signature. He can sign it, let it become
law without his signature, or veto it. His veto
also kills the bill, unless three-fifths of the members
of both the House and Senate vote to override
his veto.
I serve on five committees: the Higher Education
Committee, of which I serve as vice chair
and which considers bills pertaining to Ohio’s
colleges and universities, the Finance Subcommittee
for Primary and Secondary Education,
the Economic and Workforce Development
Committee, the Technology and Innovation
Committee, and the Insurance Committee. By
the time you read this, all the committees on
which I served will have met, many multiple
times.
The Speaker of the House of Representatives,
Jason Stephens, has announced legislative priorities
for the House during this General Assembly,
based on his conversations with our
collective members. The overall theme is “Come
to Ohio, Stay in Ohio.” Our priorities will revolve
around three main themes: growing our economy,
protecting our families, and educating our
communities. He has outlined 12 proposed
pieces of legislation that, if enacted, will help reinforce
these themes. For example, to help grow
Ohio’s economy, the legislature will consider
proposals to lower state income tax rates, spur
economic development with a portion of the
one-time money that appears to be available in
this biennium budget, increase the supply of affordable
housing via tax incentives to developers
and first-time home buyers, and assure that
state government funds are invested where
they will show the greatest return.
I will write more about these priority bills and
their progress through the legislative process in
future communications with you.
Art exhibit features work from Galloway resident
The first exhibit of the year at the London Arts Center will
showcase the work of Ken Madden. The exhibit runs Feb. 16
through March 19.
A native of Belfast, Northern Ireland, Madden moved to the
United States in 1971. He has lived in the Galloway area for the
past 47 years. Recently retired, he spent most of his career working
as a designer.
When it comes to art, Madden is self-taught with the exception
of one year of study at the Columbus College of Art & Design. He
said he draws to confront the manmade confusion in life.
“In my art, I seek peace, tranquility, and shelter from the
storm,” he said. “The purpose of my work is to express feelings and
emotions that are shrouded by darkness. For me, words are never
enough. Reality cannot justify the things I see, so I create my own
fictional reality.”
“Fictional Reality” is the title of Madden’s show. The exhibit
will feature approximately 30 pieces, most of which Madden completed
in the past five years. He works primarily in graphite and
charcoal but also creates works using watercolors, pastels, oil pastels,
acrylics, and other media. This marks the first time he has
shown his personal artwork publically.
The London Arts Center is located at 121 E. First St., London.
Regular gallery hours are: Thursday and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 2
p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Open studio hours take place 4
to 7 p.m. Tuesdays.
email explaining the scope of the project.
In addition to that payment, the district will also pay $47,000
for owner’s contingency for unforeseen items and/or owner
requested changes during the construction process.
The final phase of the transportation lot improvement project
will take place over the summer when the district’s fleet of more
than 200 buses sit idle.
The first phase of the project to make improvements to the 13-
acre lot on Southwest Boulevard was completed in 2021 and the
second phase was completed in the following year. District officials
said the project had to be broken down into multiple phases
because of the scope of the project and the logistics of relocating
hundreds of buses.
The need for the paving project was addressed at a board of
education meeting in 2020 when employees with the transportation
department began to notice fissures growing underneath the
asphalt. The district has spent more than $935,000 to address
these issues in its first and second phase of the transportation lot
improvement project.
In related news, the board of education also approved a contract
with Final Floor Inc., a flooring contractor based out of Sugar
Grove, Ohio, to replace the gymnasium flooring at Grove City High
School in the (estimated) amount of $205,856. The board said this
measure was needed as the flooring was extensively damaged
when a water line burst at the school over winter break.
District officials said the work to replace the wooden floor will
begin at the conclusion of the winter sports season.
In other news, the district has approved its summer school calendar
for high school students. Summer school will take place
from June 7 through June 30 (there will be no school on June 19)
and the instruction hours will be held from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.
The district will not provide transportation during the summer
session and there will be no fee assessed to the students.
Central Crossing and Grove City High School students will
attend classes at Central Crossing, whereas Franklin Heights students
and Westland students will attend classes at their respective
schools. All students taking health or physical education will
attend Central Crossing.
The end of course exams will take place on June 26, 27, 28, 29;
Each high school will test their own students.
Graduation is scheduled for Aug. 17 at 6 p.m. at Westland High
School.

Westland Area Commissioners approved a rezoning
request for a multi-family housing development. The
action was taken at the February monthly meeting.
Joe Thomas, director of development at Metro
Development LLC, attended to the meeting to present the
zoning requests for the property at 6410 Old Hall
Road in Galloway.
The property is 160 acres in total with a large
part of it in the Darby Accord. Since some of the
land is unable to be developed, Thomas said they
would be donating 126 acres to Columbus Parks
and Recreation once the property is purchased.
Thomas also said that Prairie Township is interested
in a portion of the property.
Metro Development plans to build two multifamily
housing communities on the property near
Hall and Galloway roads. According to Thomas,
this will be completed in two phases.
The communities will be made up of one, two,
and three-bedroom apartments that would range
in price from $1,100 to $1,800 per month. The communities
include amenities such as a pool, community
center, and fitness center for residents to
enjoy.
According to Thomas, the company met with
residents in close proximity to the property and
will work to resolve their concerns, such as how
close the buildings originally were planned to
Galloway road, privacy fencing, shrub screening,
and turn lanes and road improvements.
The commissioners added a few restrictions to
www.columbusmessenger.com
Housing proposal approved at Westland Area Commission
the proposal. The commissioners said that the property
owners should work with the city of Columbus on a park
plan and they should also work with Prairie Township on
stormwater management plans.
The commission voted 11-0 in approval of the variances
requested by Metro Development and 9-2 in approval of
the zoning request.
Representatives from American Electric Power (AEP)
also attended the meeting to speak about outages that
occurred in the area in both June and December.
According to AEP representative Angie Rybalt, in June
there was a significant storm in the midwest. Although
Columbus did not see a lot of the damage, high winds
caused significant damage to large transmission lines.
Some of those lines went down and were severely damaged.
The temperatures rose to a heat index of 110, so the
lines that remained quickly became overloaded and AEP
was “forced to do an emergency outage.”
According to Rybalt, the problems in December were a
result of a supply issue. In June, AEP did not have the
infrastructure in place to get electricity to residents'
homes.
AEP’s coordinator PJM asked the company to conserve
electricity to help prevent grid protection power outages.
Due to the combined actions of the public grid protection,
power outages were not needed.
According to Rybalt, the company is making strides to
provide faster information and develop better systems to
prevent these outages and more quickly resolve future
occurrences.
MORPC report shows air quality improvements
The Mid-Ohio Regional Planning
Commission (MORPC) has released its
annual Air Quality Report, summarizing
air quality data from November 2021 to
October 2022.
MORPC issues daily air quality forecasts
and notifies the public when groundlevel
ozone and particle pollution levels are
forecasted to be unhealthy for sensitive
groups of people through Air Quality
Alerts. On days with an Air Quality Alert,
children, older adults, and those with lung
illnesses, such as asthma, can experience
symptoms like shortness of breath and
wheezing.
Over the past 30 years, the number of
high ozone days has declined across Ohio
and neighboring states. This decline has
been driven mostly by emissions reductions,
with the most notable decrease in
high ozone days occurring after 2012.
However, there are variations year to year
due to weather conditions and other factors.
“Air quality in central Ohio continues to
improve over the long term, and with the
region’s anticipated growth and development,
it’s more important than ever to elevate
clean air solutions that support the
health and quality of life for our residents
while reducing transportation and energy
MORPC uses the national Air Quality
Index (AQI) to communicate about air
quality and the associated health effects.
Overall, the majority of days in central
Ohio were in the Good Air Quality Index
category. For ozone, 84 percent of summer
days were in the Good AQI category. Ozone
monitoring takes place from March 1 -
October 31 and forms when emissions from
sources such as vehicles, industry, and
power plants react in the presence of sunlight.
PM2.5, or fine particle pollution, is
made up of fine solid or liquid droplets that
can get into the lungs and bloodstream.
Sources include diesel trucks, power
plants, and wood burning. For PM2.5, 96
percent of all days were in the Good AQI
category, and the Moderate AQI category
for 4 percent of all days. The 2021-2022
period marks the 12th consecutive season
without Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups
(USG) PM2.5 levels. The last PM2.5 day
was recorded on Aug. 3, 2010.
Three days with Unhealthy for
Sensitive Groups levels were observed during
the ozone forecast season. The three
USG ozone days in summer 2022 were the
most recorded in the Columbus region in
On June 21, the daily ozone AQI value
reached 143, which was the highest ozone
day in the Columbus region since 2012.
Smoke from fires across the southwestern
and south-central U.S. carried into the
Columbus region enhanced ozone production.
These conditions, combined with pollutant
carryover from the previous day, led
to an observed AQI value at the New
Albany monitoring site of 143, the highest
ozone AQI recorded in the Columbus region
since July 2, 2012.
This film really bugs me
I have to admit that I have not been
staying up-to-date with the latest happenings
in the Marvel Cinematic Universe —
after releasing more than 40 films and television
shows within a span of 15 years, I
am a bit tired of this world — but I also have
to admit that I always keep my eyes open
for anything and everything related to the
“Ant-Man” franchise.
Ever since the shrinking superhero
series made its theatrical debut in 2015,
there was something that felt different
about this property and truly set it apart
from all of the other offerings that had
come before it — and especially those that
came after.
I think much of that different feeling
stemmed from it being centered around an
average guy — or in this case, an ex-con —
named Scott Lang who temporarily gains
superpowers after he accidentally dons a
special suit that shrinks the wearer down
to ant size with the push of a button.
Played by the affable and charming actor
Paul Rudd, Scott’s adventures in and out of
the suit made these films that were full of
low stakes, fun hijinks, and shifts-in-scale
camera shots something special and something
to look forward to whenever this
character had the opportunity to shine in
his own solo films.
When I heard that Marvel Studios had
announced that “Ant-Man” would be getting
his third solo film, I was looking forward
to watching it even though the
Marvel fatigue had already set in at that
point. But when I heard that this film was
going to be the film that would kick-start
phase five of its ambitious plan to bring
every single Marvel comic book character
to life on the big screen (that might be a
slight exaggeration), my excitement started
to wane because I knew what this probably
meant: That Marvel Studios had
taken over this franchise in service of the
greater Marvel machine. And that is exactly
what happened with “Ant-Man and the
Wasp: Quantumania.”
Gone are the fun hijinks, the usual
quirky personalities, and the laid-back feel
Produce giveaway at YMCA
The Hilltop YMCA hosts a fresh produce
around the westside
of the first two films and in its stead is a
proper MCU blockbuster complete with
high stakes, intense drama, copious battle
scenes, and shoe-horned lore and villainy
to sustain the next decade of Marvel film
and television properties. The only thing
that really saves this film or makes it
worthwhile to watch are the performances
of the main cast and the warrior ants who
make an appearance later on.
When the awkwardly titled film begins,
we learn that Scott has been on quite the
tear in the years since helping save the
world from Thanos, the purple villain from
the first three phases of the MCU who
“snapped” billions from existence. His tear
nowadays is not helping people, technically,
but rather touring the country to sell his
memoir that recounts his transition from
an ex-con to an Avenger whose idea
sparked the time heist that restored billions
of lives during the Infinity Battle.
Although he is certainly proud of his
accomplishments (who ever thought he
would be able to write a best-selling book
one day?), his 18-year-old daughter Cassie
(Kathryn Newton) is less than impressed
by this latest version of her father, believing
that he should still be living up to the
title of his memoir and “looking out for the
little guy.”
Because she has taken up the mantle to
look out for the little guy, it has gotten her
into quite a bit of trouble with the law.
After her latest arrest at a protest for
homeless rights, Cassie and her dad get
into an argument that leads the pair, along
with Scott’s superhero romantic partner
Hope van Dyne/the Wasp (Evangeline
Lilly) and her parents Janet van Dyne and
Hank Pym (Michelle Pfeiffer and Michael
Douglas, respectively), to accidentally get
sucked into the Quantum Realm, a subatomic
world under the Earth that is filled
with beauty, mystery, and dangerous creatures.
One of the most dangerous creatures
within this strange new world is a timetraveling
being named Kang the Conqueror
(a fantastic Jonathan Majors) who had laid
giveaway the third Wednesday of each
month from 4 to 6 p.m. at 2879 Valleyite
Drive in Columbus. For more information,
call the YMCA at 614-276-8224.
Breakfast at the Lodge
to benefit Special Olympics
The Westmeath Masonic Lodge #623 is
preparing breakfasts once a month to benefit
the Special Olympics. The public is
invited to have breakfast the second
Saturday of each month at 2925 West
Broad St. Adults eat for a donation of $6,
children age 3 and above pay $3. Serving is
from 9 a.m. to noon.
waste to much of the Quantum Realm.
Having been trapped there for decades,
Kang is eager to get out and travel into a
different timeline because there is so much
to see, so much to conquer, so much to
destroy. Naturally, it falls upon Scott and
his not-so-merry band of troublemakers to
ensure that Kang does not get out and
wreak havoc onto the world.
I am often puzzled by some of the decisions
that the executives at Marvel Studios
make but introducing Kang the Conqueror
in the “Ant-Man” series was a real headscratcher
for me. I think they wanted to
bring this new and menacing yet complicated
villain into a property that most of the
general audience knew well, but it created
a very unusual tonal imbalance throughout
the entire film, and especially when Scott
and Kang met and eventually battled. I
guess that is just what happens when you
try to shoe-horn a bunch of lore and heavy
action into a movie franchise that has
always been light on both.
“Quantumania” is a movie that is too
reliant on CGI and action to get points and
plots across, but I maintain that it did not
have to go this way. Had Marvel Studio
trusted director
Peyton Reed and
writers Jeff
Loveness and Jack
Kirby to come up
with something
inventive that
worked within the framework of the previous
two “Ant-Man” installations, this
movie could have been completely salvageable.
Instead, Marvel executives passed
along too many notes on how to prepare for
its future vehicles and ended up making a
very sad “Ant-Man” experience for this fan.
Good thing we had the charming presence
of Rudd and the material and scenery
chewing talent of Pfeiffer and Majors to
make up for all that it lacked.
Dog license renewal runs
through March 31
Dog license renewal season is under
way, and licenses are now available for
purchase without penalty at the auditor’s
office.
The dog license renewal period will run
through March 31, an extension of two
months to increase the rate of licensing. As
in past years, licenses may be purchased
at doglicense.franklincountyohio.gov, or at
the auditor’s office license counter, 373 S.
High St., 21st Floor in downtown
Columbus. The counter is open Monday
through Friday, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
One-year, three-year, and permanent
dog licenses can be purchased through
March 31. After the deadline, the cost to
purchase a license doubles.
The office will also offer licensing at
expanded locations across the county,
including at pet vaccination clinics, the
Franklin County Dog Shelter, and at other
community events.
In addition to being required by state
law, dog licensing ensures that a dog has
been vaccinated against rabies, which is
required in Franklin County. It also
ensures any lost dog is returned quickly to
their owners.
Visit doglicense.franklincountyohio.gov
for more information.
