I sincerely hope everybody had a great time at<br />
the IVR AGM 40th anniversary Gala evening.<br />
The entertainment was first class this year<br />
and the highlight was ventriloquist Steve Hewlett<br />
and Arthur Larger but his interaction with<br />
Vince Rodriguez was classic. He finished with<br />
a specially made likeness of the IVR chairman<br />
Chris Hoare which didn’t quite go according to<br />
plan as Chris had left the room at just the wrong<br />
moment, however we still had a great time.<br />
This year’s raffle and auction was in aid of<br />
Great Ormond Street Hospital for children and<br />
has yet to be confirmed but I think I can safely<br />
say a record amount was raised for this great<br />
charity. In a slight departure from the norm,<br />
the proceeds from one particular item were<br />
donated to our friends at AVRO Benevolent<br />
Fund. The two-day heavy recovery course<br />
donated by Nick Ovenden (Ashford <strong>Recovery</strong>)<br />
was a considerable help especially as he was<br />
coerced into donating a second course to the<br />
underbidder “Sorry Nick” but thanks for your<br />
generosity.<br />
To all who either donated a prize, bought a<br />
raffle ticket or bid in the auction our grateful<br />
thanks it certainly shows in these difficult times<br />
the generosity of spirit which continues to shine<br />
throughout the industry.<br />
