Spring is just around the corner and as always, the first<br />
industry event, the Institute of Vehicle <strong>Recovery</strong> AGM is<br />
upon us once again.<br />
Sunny Stratford-upon-Avon was once more the venue and I’m<br />
sure repeated several times within this magazine will be the fact<br />
the IVR is celebrating its 40th anniversary. To some readers this<br />
will mean very little, however without the Institute and the work<br />
its volunteers have done every day over the last four decades, the<br />
recovery industry would be in a very different place today.<br />
The tireless work carried out to improve the safety of the<br />
roadside recovery worker and the public it serves continues<br />
today, based on the selfless commitment and not for profit<br />
attitude, the foundations were firmly set back in March 1983. With<br />
so many milestones to celebrate, those pioneers were thanked<br />
with a time-line presentation from the President Nick Ovenden<br />
and his reliable vice chair Mark Hartell.<br />
The video journey took the audience back to the first IVR<br />
training courses and those pioneers describing just how it all<br />
