OUR HEAD COACH SETS THE
SCENE FOR TONIGHT’S GAME...
It goes without saying that tonight’s game
at Loftus Road is huge. So are all four of the
games we’ve got coming up and we need to dig
deep and give absolutely everything we’ve got in
each of those.
I don’t believe the league table will lie after 46
games have been played. There are reasons why
we find ourselves in the situation we’re in at the
moment – and yet it remains in our hands to do
something about it and make sure that, when that
46th game is over, we’ve secured our status as a
Championship club.
The boys out there on the pitch have the
quality to achieve it, I have no doubt about that
whatsoever. They work hard in training, they’re
going to need to keep working hard – and they also
need to believe. It’s in there and it’s up to me to
do everything I can to bring it out of them tonight
and in the next three games after that. I’ve been
involved in relegation battles before, both as a
player and as a manager and these are the times
when you have to find that extra bit of strength
and desire inside you.
One thing I’ve made clear since I came back to the
club is I expect everyone to give their best. If your
best isn’t good enough, at least it was your best.
But it’s also true to say we’ve got to put right some
of the things we didn’t do well enough here against
Coventry at the weekend.
The goals Coventry scored were far too easy
from our point of view. We’ve looked easy to score
against all too often and we need to be stronger
and tougher than that. At the same time, I didn’t
feel the 3-0 scoreline reflected the game – there
was one goal in it for the vast majority of the 90
minutes and, in that situation, you only need a
