hoops
in the heat of the battle will also be crucial to how
we do in the remaining games. The players that
pull on the famous blue and white hoops have to
step up, they have to perform and get results.
All the teams involved will feel the pressure
of what is at stake. Yes, of course there will be
nerves and anxiety here and elsewhere, but we
should have enough experience in our group to
deal with this.
On Saturday, around 70 people, including myself,
took part in the Tiger Feet 13 sponsored walk,
which this year featured a route that took us
from Loftus Road to the many sites where our
club has played home games over the years.
It was great to hear the history behind all the
sites that we took in and a big well done to club
historian Chris Guy for the in-depth knowledge
he provided and shared for all the participants, as
well as doing the walk himself.
Tonight we as a club welcome back to Loftus
Road Ron Abbott, who will be inducted into
our very popular Forever R’s. Ron spent eight
years at the club, having signed initially as an
apprentice. During his time at the club, Ron was
a very important member of our best ever team
that finished runners-up in Division One in the
1975/76 season. Although not a regular starter,
Ron certainly played his part in that brilliant team
and that exciting season and indeed, in the
games he did feature in that season, QPR were
unbeaten. Every member of that squad played
their part and Ron’s contribution should not be
underestimated. We hope Ron enjoys his evening
back here at Loftus Road and I am sure he will get
a nice reception when he comes onto the pitch
at half-time. Welcome back, Ron.
Your support for the team has been outstanding
all season, at both home and away games, and
I thank you so much for that. You have been
incredible.
The team – OUR TEAM – needs you more than
ever. Our fans can play a huge part and help to
make the difference tonight – you really can.
From the very first whistle, get behind the team,
push them forward, drive them on and together
we can do this.
We are QPR... so COME ON YOU R’s
