New farm store, butchery opens in Kaikōura<br />

Afarmstoreand boutique butcheryopens<br />
in the heart of Kāikoura township on<br />
Saturday, <strong>July</strong> 8.<br />
The Macdonald family hasopened the<br />
Middlehurst Station FarmStore for<br />
residents andvisitorsseekingfresh meat,<br />
locally sourced produce,and adiverse<br />
selection of seasonalproducts.<br />
LucyMacdonald,one of thesisters<br />
behindthe visionary Middlehurst Station<br />
FarmStore, says Kaikoura is renowned<br />
for its foodand artisanproducers, and<br />
theyare thrilled to be able to contribute<br />
to the thrivingcommunity.<br />
‘‘We’ve always dreamed of creatinga<br />
space where we can connectwithour<br />
customersdirectly,and showcase thebest<br />
of New Zealand’s highcountryfarming.’’<br />
For theMacdonald family,parents<br />
Susan and Willie, and childrenSophie,<br />
Lucy, Henry and Skye, the farmstore<br />
representsanaturalprogression in their<br />
family business.<br />

Middlehurst StationFarmStore is also<br />
kittedout withafullycertified butchery<br />
and local butcher,Brogan Matthews will<br />
be responsiblefor preparing and<br />
providingfresh,premiumcuts of<br />
Middlehurst Stationlamb and beef,and<br />
Patoa Pork.<br />
‘‘Our mission has alwaysbeen to make<br />
premium highcountrylamb accessible to<br />
New Zealanders.<br />
‘‘And this is our chance.’’<br />
In addition to serving local customers,<br />
Middlehurst StationFarmStore will<br />
continue to extend its services to<br />
accommodate wholesale andhospitality<br />
venues, at bothlocaland nationallevels.<br />
TheMiddlehurst Station FarmStore<br />
opens on Saturday, <strong>July</strong> 8, and thefamily<br />
invites everyone fromthe regiontocome<br />
andexperiencethe richflavours,<br />
seasonal delights, and warmhospitality.<br />
Middlehurst Stationisinthe remote<br />
mountains of the AwatereValley in<br />
Marlborough. The station covers16,550<br />
hectaresofland, ranging fromthe rolling<br />
Awatere River flatstothe peaks of the<br />
inlandKaikōura ranges.<br />
Each memberofour familyholdsa<br />
pivotalrole in theoperationofboththe<br />
stationand theirvarious businesses.<br />
Willieand Susan, as theguiding forces,<br />
skilfully overseeall aspects of thestation<br />
and itsdiverse ventures. Sophieand Lucy<br />
managethe Farm Store,alongwith<br />
wholesale andDirecttoConsumer sales,<br />
while Henry oversees thestation with<br />
CheviotFarm Manager, Paul Chambers.<br />

Although abroad at present, Skyewill<br />
assume the reins of the FarmStore’s daytodayoperations.
