Chamber’s annual Business Luncheon
on October 16. Though they
didn’t take the stage together, the two
took questions from Fox News’ Charlie
Langton, and audience members, at
Shenandoah Country Club.

• “We have to be very aggressive with ISIS. Airstrikes
are very important, and we have to bring
in other countries including Arab countries.”
• “I do not support American ground forces.
This cannot be just the United States vs. ISIS,
it has to be a broader coalition. We have to
have Sunni religious leaders condemn them …
you’re starting to see that.”
• “Yes, I support special visas for Iraqis … the
community has really stood up and taken care
of folks. [Internally Displaced] Christians should
be treated as refugees – because they are. “
• “I’m a moderate, a centrist — that makes me
an endangered species.”
• “700,000 people in Michigan have health
care who didn’t have it before.”

• “The president has not led on this issue [of
ISIS]. He needs to lead, have a clear and concise
plan.”
• “Americans are war weary, we don’t want to
put boots on the ground, but there are other
avenues we can pursue.”
• “Our immigration system is broken … it’s
very hard to work with the State Department.”
• “We need to reduce taxes, make them lower
and fairer for folks.”
• “I support bringing more refugees here, but the
priority has to come from the White House.”
• “The health care system is a disaster … we
need a plan that works, that is competitive,
that you can buy across state lines.”
