COMPUTER KEYBOARDING

Increase your keyboard knowledge and
speed! This self-paced course teaches
correct keyboarding techniques and typing
procedures. No prior computer knowledge
or experience is necessary. Ms. Engelman has
taught computer applications at Palo Alto
Adult School since 1998.

COMPUTER BASICS

Prerequisite: Keyboard knowledge.
Learn to use a personal computer. You
will start a program, switch between open
windows and use cut/copy/paste features
on our PCs. Learn to save documents, find
and open saved files, and more! This class is
excellent for beginners of any age.

EXCEL FOR WINDOWS:
Beginning/Intermediate

Prerequisite: To be successful in this
class, you MUST HAVE Intermediate
PC/Windows skills.
Excel skills are a must for most positions
in today’s challenging job market. Learn
the fundamentals of Excel 2007 such as:
formatting, printing, charting/graphs,
calculations and built-in functions. Use
this powerful spreadsheet as a database for
organizing large quantities of information,
to print labels for your cards or mailings, or
as a tool to balance your checkbook! In-class
practice time is included. Class size limited to
12 students. No class February 18.

PHOTOSHOP ELEMENTS: Beginning
Instructor: Ruth Gilroy
Prerequisite: To join this class you MUST HAVE PC/
Windows experience.
Explore the fun world of photo editing. Learn to correct
images that are too dark/light or which are slightly out of
focus. Clone parts of one photo onto another or eliminate
that distracting item from the background of your photo.
We will incorporate multiple photos into projects and utilize
photo frames, text and elements. Class size limited to 12
students.

MAC COMPUTERS
PODCAST THE POSSIBILITIES
Instructor: Mark Taylor, KMVT
Prequisite: Familiarity with computers and the internet. A
familiarity with audio and video files, and XML coding would be
helpful.
Learn how a podcast is developed from episode creation to
viewer downloads. A practice podcast will be created, with
student participation, then broadcast during the class. Sample
materials will be available to attendees who bring a flash
drive. The instructor is a media specialist with a background
in television production, web design, Photography and Visual
Effects. He currently teaches classes at KMVT in Mountain
View, an affiliated station of the Midpeninsula Community
Media Center.

BLOGGING ACROSS
TWO LANGUAGES
(in English and Spanish)
Instructor: Julio Navarette
Prequisite: Basic computer use and understanding.
Learn about different types of blogs, create your own blog
and begin posting original written work in Spanish and/or
English. Perform writing exercises, and have opportunities
to share personal stories and unique experiences in creative
ways. If you have always wanted to express yourself to a
broad audience, this is a class for you. The instructor is the
creative writing coordinator at Educators for Fair
Consideration (E4FC). He has a degree in Radio, Television
and Film.
