Learn the most popular language in the
world! This course focuses strongly on the
accuracy of pronunciation and tones right
at the start as you learn to conduct simple
effective conversations. Characters will be
introduced during the second half of the

Continue to reinforce accuracy of
pronunciation, focus more on listening
and understanding, holding lengthy
conversations and reading characters.
Recognize about 250 characters and learn
to write them as well. The required textbook
(about $18) is available in the Adult School
office. No class on January 21 and February 18.

Now that you have a good foundation,
including phonetics, knowledge of Chinese
sentence structure and conversation skills,
you are ready to read and write! Learn to
write Chinese passages using computer
software. Recognize about 300 characters.
The required textbook (about $18) is available
in the Adult School office.
